The Two Towers: Most anticipated release?

I have never gotten excited over a dvd release before but I find myself doing just that in anticipation of Tuesdays release of The Two Towers.

Am I alone?

Maybe it's because I'm recently unemployed and don't have anything better to do right now. :P

hoyalawya 08-24-03 06:28 PM

My local Best Buy (Sterling, VA) will be opened from midnight to 1:00 AM tomorrow night specifically to sell TTT DVD. I have already planned to be there and call in sick on Tuesday. Hopefully, they will also sell Stitch the movie that night.

Sessa17 08-24-03 06:29 PM

I think I'm the one who is alone. For me Mr. Show: The Complete 3rd Season is about the most excited I ever was for a new release.

I'll share your excitement when the extended edition comes out later on. There a lot of other DVDs I'm WAY more excited about coming out this Tues, than TTT.

I live in McLean, do you know if any other stores are doing this? Like Reston, Fairfax, Baileys, Tysons???

Dammit 08-24-03 06:41 PM

Circuit City will have it for one dollar cheaper! :D

Hiro11 08-24-03 06:49 PM

I waited from Chungking Express for five years. I had to wait for a (legit) Two Towers copy for a matter of months...it's not biggy. Already have my pre-order in on the EE.

gutwrencher 08-24-03 06:53 PM

you are not alone. I am. I'm waiting for Beast From 20,000 Fathoms..:D. I'm getting LOTR2T also but I'm not that excited about it.

It appears that many Best Buy stores will be participating in this midnight sale. I know mine will be (Beaverton, OR), and it is even advertised in their Sunday paper insert. You should probably check with your local store to see if they are participating.

Last year, I almost went crazy waiting for FOTR to come out, but now that I've seen the glory of the Extended Editions, I can only hope November gets here soon.

mwj 08-24-03 07:11 PM

I share your anticipation, but I am only buying the EE so my wait will continue for a couple of months.

nemein 08-24-03 07:29 PM

Kind of sorta (I found out the place I ordered it from shipped it Friday so hopefully I'll have it tomorrow :D, I think I'm going to wait until Labor Day though and rewatch Fellowship and then TT)... personally I'm in more "anticipation" of the announcement of B5 season 4 & 5 and further SG1 releases.

same here!! :D :D

packaok 08-24-03 08:22 PM

Nope. I hate the LOTR films...

However, my most anticipated release is the Indiana Jones Trilogy!!! The Lion King is a close second...

atari2600 08-24-03 09:28 PM

you are NOT alone! cant wait!

Jackskeleton 08-24-03 09:42 PM

If it was the extended edition I would be apart of the excitement. As it is I'm content with the screener and completely forgot that this week was it's release. :p

Geofferson 08-24-03 09:58 PM

I too can't wait (although the I am anticipating even more for the EE).

GMLSKIS 08-24-03 10:02 PM

I'm getting the DVD but it's not even close to my most anticipated release. I haven't even seen the movie but liked the first one and got a good deal on this one.

I'm much more anticipating:

Indiana jones
Finding Nemo
Lion King
Disney Treasures Mickey & Donald
Looney Tunes Gold
Friends Season 5
Duel
Wiseguy

reubs82 08-24-03 10:19 PM

I'm pretty jacked about this one, and I may even go to the midnight sale at BB locally. ANyone think they'd pricematch CC for the midnight sale?

The Cow 08-24-03 11:18 PM

LivingINClip 08-24-03 11:20 PM

*sigh*

I just don't know.. I waited and bought the EE of LOTR:FOTR, but I only midly enjoyed the first one...I saw LOTR:TTT and I loved it - so now I'm debating if I really want to wait or if I just want to double dip and buy 'em both.. Argh!!

...my...precious...

Bast 08-24-03 11:25 PM

TTT:EE and ROTK:EE (even if I haven't seen it!) are my most anticipated along with Seinfeld, whenever it comes out!

But I can't wait for LOTR: TTT EE too though.

Kumar J 08-25-03 12:29 AM

It's gonna be an expensive month of October and November for me.I better save up my money.

cross 08-25-03 12:40 AM

Go Go Simpsons S3 !

Dammit 08-25-03 12:56 AM

I bought both versions of FOTR. Sold the theatrical cut to a friend for $10 when the EE came out so I only lost $5 (price of a rental basically). Plan to do the same thing this time around.

I just can't wait to see Gollum on my HDTV. I even finished doing the Duvetyne mod to my set today in anticipation. :D

Finding Nemo will probably be the release I get the most use out of this year though. In fact I'm sure of it. The digital animation movies like anything from Pixar, Shrek, Ice Age etc. always get the most play time around here. They look absolutely fantastic on a high definition set AND the three year old is pretty much hypnotized by them. The fact that it's a great movie is just the icing on the cake.

Gerry P. 08-25-03 12:56 AM

I'd be anticipating LOTR more if I had the time this week to sit down and watch
parts 1 & 2.

greatjedi 08-25-03 01:11 AM

I'm also wiating for the LOTR: TTT EE which I'm very excited about.

However, I'm much, much, much MUCH more excited for the Indiana Jones trilogy!

Skull 08-25-03 01:17 AM

Can't wait to get TTT. Already rewatching FOTR EE. Plus Simpons Season 3 and Soul Calibur II:).

Walter Sobchak 08-25-03 02:08 AM

The Two Towers: Most anticipated release?

More anticipated than Jaws, Raiders of The Lost Ark or the original Artisan T2?

No. Not even close.

Dammit 08-25-03 04:04 AM

I guess it's just me but I've never been able to get into the Indiana Jones movies. Don't know why. Not a Bond fan either.

This is just the first time I've been feeling that "gimme! gimme!" sensation in regards to a dvd release. There's been plenty that I've looked forward to in the past but not to the degree that I was anxiously awaiting release day. I'm sure it's directly related to my sudden abundance of free time. Maybe it's simply a case of me trying to look at the bright side of a bad situation? If it is, so be it! Gimme gimme gimme!

Hokeyboy 08-25-03 06:34 AM

Most anticipated release? Feh.

That honor would go to Tokyo Story: Criterion. But I do await LOTR: TT was some degree of joyous anticipation.

matome 08-25-03 07:51 AM

Simpsons S3 for me

REL77 08-25-03 08:54 AM

I am thankful that my GF actually liked TTT, she didnt like FotR. So I can watch it now whenever I want and not here that dreaded "Are you watching that again???"

mdc3000 08-25-03 09:47 AM

I get WAY TOO EXCITED about most DVD releases, so this one is no different... I can't wait...I feel like a drug addict just waiting for another hit.... damn, I am really looking forward to tomorrow.... of course I'm dying for the EE, but I'll take what I can get for now and be happy with it!

You can't be serious about missing a day's work, because of a DVD release. I am quite sure there will be plenty of copies available because the merchant already knows that it will be an highly anticipated huge seller. GO TO WORK! :)
