'Ghostbusters' 20th Anniversary

Has anyone heard of a 20th Anniversary DVD re-release for 'Ghostbusters'. It's such a big movie, you'd think theyd start getting ready for a special anniversary dvd like 'Vacation'. 20 years as of next summer.

I think the current SE is pretty good already. Don't know what they could do to make me buy it again.

The Ghostbusters DVD came out in 1999, in part to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the movie.

What, should they come out with a new disc every 5 years?

The current one is a great set.

Great but not that great considering it is a non-anamorphic transfer. You would have thought this release would have included an anamorphic transfer. It is a nice disc but they should have given it the works.

Ghostbusters does have an anamorphic transfer. Did I miss something?

Have not watched in awhile...could have sworn it wasn't but if so...that is great news to me. I was looking at replacing this down the road. I will pop this into my set up tonight and take a look see. When I had first purchased this title...I did not have a widescreen tv as of yet...now I do. Thanks for the correction, DJ

Ghostbuster is anamorphic. Go ahead and get the current DVD if you do not have this movie and want it. It was one of the great DVDs when it was released and now it's pretty darn cheap. Does anyone else remember the big panic when Reel.com couldn't get the discs out to everyone by the release date? I think some of us had to wait an excrutiating one week after that date before we got it. If I'm not mistaken, the other big topic around this forum was the crappiness of the Kubrick boxed set DVDs.

I think the feature this could use would be a Murray, Acroyd, and Ramis and possibly Hudson and Moranis commentary. You know Murrary could just fill the time on his own but it'd be fun to capture them watching this flick again.

The only think that would have been nice to have on the Ghostbusters DVD was the Ghostbusters Musiv Video by Ray Parker Jr.

I think it wasn't included because Ray didn't give premission or he wanted too much. Why, who knows. I mean isn't that what he's best known for anyway!

On Ghostbusters 2, it would have been nice to have an audio commentary, deleted scenes and the Bobby Brown Music Video. Maybe some featurettes also.

I wouldn't think it would be surprising that Columbia would release new Special Editions of these two films. They did it with other movies on DVD before, and some that probably didn't deserve special edition versions.

Maybe release new 2-Disc Special Editions of both Ghostbusters 1 & 2. This would allow for improved picture quality with most of the extras on the 2nd disc.

The transfer is anamorphic, BUT in order to watch it with the visual commentary, you have to watch it non-anamorphic.

I agree. The one out is great. If anything they'll put out a bare-bones Superbit.

The current Se is pretty good. Sure, it could use some extra's on it - but what couldn't ('cept Se7en - that DVD is perfect)? Personally, I am more interested in see'ing the old Ghostbusters cartoons released on DVD - but it appears that will never happen.

Agreed! I realize it may be borderline blasphemous, but I liked Ghostbusters 2 much better than the original.

Ghostbusters II rocks, and while I'd be willing to buy improved re-releases of these two, there's certainly more room for improvement for a Ghostbusters II DVD. These movies are the greatest though, and I'm happy to have them on DVD, in 16:9 widescreen.

9/3/03 Rerelease

Hey, did anybody else notice that "Ghostbusters" was reissued 9/3/03? Was this just a price drop? Amazon has both versions listed, and they sound the same except that the new version doesn't mention Theatrical Trailers in the features, whereas the old one does. I find it hard to believe the trailers were dropped, but you never know. The back of the case says "Original Featurette and Trailers", and "Original Featurette" is on the Web site for both versions. Maybe they just overlooked the trailers for the new one. Just wanted to know. Thanks
