The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring EE

I like the way they chose to make them look like books. Plus they just look cool. Well "they" will in a couple of months when The Two Towers EE is released.

One of my favorites is the Criterion version of "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas". The lettering is only printed on the clear outside case, with just the original Steadman artwork on the box itself.

I was going to post the exact same thing. My only DVD without the title on the spine.

The Band Of Brothers and Akira limited tin edition. They are so cool that there is no need to print anything on their spine

Speaking of spines... I'm in the process of converting my collection to thinpak keepcases and I really didn't want to trim the existing covers to fit.

I started converting my cheapo Diamond discs when it occurred to me.

Why no simply print out the spines and insert them into the thinpaks! Not only does it save on ink and paper (can print a whole slew on a single sheet) but it is quicker and when they're on the shelf, you can't notice the difference. (Snapper conversions are a lot easier too.)

I've done nearly a dozen and they look surprisingly good. Anyone else doing something similar? How about a repository of "spines only"?

I'm a fan of The X-Files seasons spines, they all go together really well. I also love the Universal Classic Monster Collections spines, here's a pic:

The Evil Dead - Book of the Dead stands out the most in my collection. Everytime I have a new guest over, they always go up and touch it and go, "Ewwww - it feels gross" - which is how its supposed to feel.

Although I don't own it (and probably never will) the spine for "The Sweetest Thing" always catches my eye. Not really sure why, though...probably Cameron Diaz.

I second the motion for the Beatles Anthology. Also, I think the spines for the Rocky movies are cool too. I only have 1 and 3, so no cool picture of Rocky for me.

I like the way the Walt Disney Treasures spines look AFTER you take them out of the tins (I don't even keep them in the tins since they look much better to me out of them).

As others have said, I also like the way the EE of FOTR looks like a book--it should look pretty nice when I have all 3.
