Swamp Thing & Dawn Of The Dead

does anyone know if these 2 titles will be re-released any time soon, thanks for any info

Anchor Bay is releasing a Dawn of the Dead box set early next year (and I'm looking very forward to it :) ).

Swamp thing is OOP

MGM recalled the earlier release, after they discovered it was the unrated European release (contains a lot of nudity not in the US release), and from what I hear, they destroyed all the copies. If it does come out again, it will be the US PG release.

You can find Swamp Thing used(and in some rare cases still sealed)on eBay, but be prepared to pay upwards of $100 for it.

Welcome to the forum Snarff, but.....

Please, in the future, use a question mark in your thread title if you are looking for informaton rather than providing information - a lot of people will be looking at this thread because they think you have some news on these titles.

I wouldn't be too certain about that. MGM has been really good about releasing their horror catalog titles in uncut form. Frankly I'd expect them to reissue SWAMP THING eventually and simply label it as the "R" cut. No reason to think they wouldn't.

I think that part of the problem wasn't just the PG rating. I remember hearing that MGM might not have the rights to release the R cut in the U.S.

I could be wrong though.

I don't think they can do that, as the MPAA never rated the version in question. They would probably label it an international, or unrated cut if they rereleased it.

1. There is a question as to whether or not MGM actually has the rights to the international cut. Rumors are that they only have distribution rights to the U.S. PG cut.

2. Even if they do have the rights, they cannot "simply label it as the R". They would have to label it as unrated or resubmit to the MPAA for a rating.

A little while back I was trying to find out if the R2 version contains the more explicit international cut. I'm assuming yes for obvious geographical reasons, but does anyone know for sure?

I've never seen Swamp Thing break the $100 mark... not yet at least.

it was some idiot parent shocked that their daughter saw a few boobs here and there, and complained to blockbuster, and they had mgm distroy it.

For Ebay's reputation for selling OOP DVDs at a high price, I've seen far more gouging going on at Amazon.com. I saw an OOP Parents DVD going for $125.00 on there once when it was still (but not for much longer) on sale at Barnes and Noble's website for $15.00.

I am one of those who didn't really care for the Swamp Thing movie but bought a copy from amazon.com the morning it was announced it was being pulled off the shelf (got my order in like at 6:30 am, before the DVD became one of their top five selling DVDs and they sold out of their inventory) so I still have it sealed. Maybe I could get good money off of amazon.com for it?
