I got the last copy of Soylent Green at BB, they didnt even order any Omega Man in. Im so tired of BB not getting any of the new titles in *Spits on bb rewards card* If I had to pay for the card Id be really pissed. How can they make you pay for this card that you can only use in store and not get any decent titles in. Well I take that back they did have plenty of Bringing down the house but I was able to hold myself back from that one.

Oh well to dvdpriceseach I go

Found plenty of "The Thing" at BB but no Omega Man at all. Of anyone spots this in a store, please post and let us know.

Just got back from J&R in NYC. All the new releases were in stock including plenty of Soylent Green, Omega Man and The Thing.

BTW, Free Blues Traveler concert in City Hall Park today.

I went to 3 BB's looking for SOYLENT GREEN today before noon. One BB got 1 copy (sold), another got 5 copies (all sold) and the last one got 3 copies (all sold). Notice a pattern here? They all sold out before noon on release day...but each BB had about a thousand "The Thing"...I never understood their ordering system...

By the way, I got my copy just now from a Circuit City I never go to...it was just on my way somewhere...funny thing is, I went into the store and dvd section, saw Soylent Green sitting in the cart ready to be stocked and grabbed it...went up to the dvd cashier and told him about my BB hunt...He said a guy came in a little earlier looking for SG too but the CC guy hadn't opened the new release box yet...The guy told me how lucky I was because they too only got that ONE copy...Of course I could only laugh....

No Omega man here either. Gentlemen standing next to me saw that I had The Thing in my hand and commented on what a great movie it is. He said it really scared him as a kid. He also had a copy of the thing. Then he mentioned that he was looking for Omega Man and I said I was also, and that I was also looking for Soylent Green. He said that he wanted that too. I then spotted two copies of Soylent Green with their spines out. So we eached grabbed a copy and Best Buy was out at 10:30.

Then hit another Best Buy and a Suncoast and still no luck on Omega man.

Oh Well 4 movies for one day is enough anyhow. Also picked up the Haunting and Iron Maiden Visions of the Beast.

My local Circuit City didn't have Soylent Green, Omega Man or The Thing.
CC isn't very reliable on getting catalogue titles. I suppose if we want to be sure, it's best to pre-order them and avoid the disappointment and hassle!

My local Best Buy had zero copies of Omega Man or Soylent. Probably wasn't any room to stock them... what with the need to have 10,000 copies of Bringing Down the House available.

The Best Buy system showed Omega Man having a release date of 12/31/03 (ie. they have no clue). Needless to say unless it was pre-special-ordered, no BB will have it. They had ONE copy of Soylent Green which had a very loose floater disc.
The kicker.....the BIG disc I had to have today, Wait Until Dark...they showed 8 copies on hand. Needless to say after 2 hours and supposed extensive searching by the futile clerk, I left empty handed. F*** 'em.
Oh and Circuit City was even more clueless.

THey had a bunch of copies of wait until dark at my best buy. It was in the drama section. They also had plenty of Thing on hand but no Heston titles or the one I was looking for House of Wax.

Neither of the two Best Buy stores I went to at lunch had THE OMEGA MAN. Asked a clerk about it and he said that their computer doesn't even show that it's available on anything but VHS. Checked the BB website earlier and THE OMEGA MAN is a no-show there, as well. What a bunch of dolts...

They did have three copies of SOYLENT GREEN and about ten of THE THING (both of which I grabbed). They had about 4,000 copies of WAIT UNTIL DARK and one measly copy of THE HAUNTING. Chain stores suck soooooooo bad...

Yeah, as always this forum rules. I just thought I had crappy BBs b/c mine didn't have Omega or Soylent so I was way pissed, then I see this thread & see I'm not alone.

I had to go to a Jersey chain store CD World to buy both movies. But I didn't know until today that they are the devil spawn of DVD cases, being snapper cases which disappointed me. But those movies are soooooo good I was happy to have them. My Heston double feature this weekend is on.

Since BB was a bust for everyone... I tried Walmart & Target = nothing.

Found about half a dozen copies of The Omega Man @ SunCoast (Inland Empire mall), so I picked one up... as I was looking forward to seeing this old classic on DVD for months now.

Thats' good news. I had two different retailers tell me today that Omega Man was delayed and won't be released until fall...

So, today was'nt a totally lost by me, yeah I would glady be happy if I had Omega Man today, but that okay any movies I can't find in store I can alway order it online like Amazon.

I had to go to three stores today to find Soylent Green.

Best Buy had neither, so it was off to Fry's. Fry's had Omega Man, so I picked it up and headed to Circuit City, which I was pretty sure would have neither. CC ended up being the only one that had both.

Sorry to be a little off topic but I was amazed to find my Omega Man and Soylent Green discs in the mailbox today.

I ordered from Deep Discount and they're typically painfully slow with preorders.

Yup... Same story. I'm not terribly surprised at BB though... They never even had The Omega Man up for pre-order... So, I went to Suncoast, they had 4 copies, and paid the full MSRP - $19.98 - something I rarely do but I love The Omega Man and didn't feel like waiting on Columbia House, searching for a better price, or waiting for BB to wake up and smell the coffee... BB sucks at getting "off the wall" titles like The Omega Man (my BB didn't even stock the Das Boot Superbit until a month from street date).

They did have 2 copies of Soylent Green, which I got one of and another customer grabbed the other of, before noon today. And, as mentioned, they had 20 copies of The Thing. < Yes, smiley please.

Local best buy never has cult films like omega man or soylent green, especially on the first day of release. Everytime I go into a best buy on release date to purchase a film that's not mainstream and new I always end up with nothing. I went too circuit city which I hate buying dvds from because the whole dvd section is so unorganized. I found Omega Man sitting in the wrong section, they only had one copy and they had three soylent greens that were hidden behind an old title film . Bottom line I found them both priced at $15.99 but if I didn't hunt for them I would have never found them, which is very typical circuit city dvd shopping experience and thats why I never like too shop there. The only thing good about circuit city is that they tend too have most dvd's on opening day of release, otherwise they suck.

I saw the Omega Man at Circuit City while I was there for the MGM titles, but didn't pick it up. I've never seen it. I think it was $15.99.
