No luck with the Omega Man or Soylent Green at Best Buy either. After searching around the shelves for a while, I decided to ask someone if they even received any copies. This being Best Buy, I should have known better since the guy in the department was completely unfriendly and unhelpful--his only suggestion being to "make sure it was released today" by going over to the internet kiosk and checking online. That was the extent of his help! :( Yeah, thanks a lot. It was pointless explaining that I've been anticipating this release date so much that it's burned into my memory. Nonetheless, I found Soylent Green at Borders, since Circuit City said they sold out quickly. No Omega man anywhere. Perhaps, I'll try my luck again tomorrow or just order online. Glad to hear I wasn't the only fan frustrated today.

No luck at BB or Borders.
Unfortuantely, I caved in and went to Suncoast. I asked the guy if he had any more coupons for $5 off a DVD when you buy one. He had no clue what I was talking about, so I had to go home to grab the flyer I had saved. Ended up getting both OM and SG for $35 + tax total. My "can't find it anywhere" films this week are House of Wax and Haunting. |
I found one copy of Soylent Green and two copies of Omega Man at Circuit City last night. They were priced at $15.99 each.
Best Buy didn't have either DVD. |
Couldn't find it at the following:
Best Buy (2 different locations) Borders (4 different locations) Coconuts FYE Sam Goody I finally found one copy at Circuit City I also had a hard time finding Soylent Green but found it at Sam Goody. P.S. According to the moron who works at Coconuts, the internet is usually wrong and Omega Man & Soylent Green didn't come out yesterday because the internet is wrong and he is right. Bet he felt really dumb when I came back to show him that I found them both and they do exist. |
Haven't tried any B&Ms, but I preordered from CH and Omega says awaiting stock and Soylent says awaiting credit approval. Sounds like there was a problem with distributing The Omega Man. Oh well, as long as my Heston quality gets here eventually.

I preordered my copy of The Omega Man (one of my Holy Grail titles) from DDD a few months ago and for less than what BB and CC seem to be selling for. Showed up in my mailbox on Monday.....so.......why did so many people wait to buy in the stores when its cheaper online with free shipping?

Well, I stop by Circuit City after work to see if they have Omega Man in stock, sure enough I was able to find two copy so I quickly bought one of them. Yay!!! I'm a happy camper now. :)

FWIW, I was at Fred Meyer's today and they had lots of Omega Man, Soylent Green, and The Haunting. Omega Man was marked as $14.99, but rang up as $12.99. Gotta love FM's 1st week of DVD specials, everything is lower than marked and rarely advertised.

What Gut said... I'm to the point now where I really don't order online unless I know that a title that I'm interested in won't be available local OR unless there's a good coupon around... The price differences are usually not that great and there's a certain satisfaction/enjoyment in searching the racks at a B&M. Quake: My BB had about 20 copies of H25 yesterday and only 1 left this evening... So, I'm sure your story is bound to be repeated over the coming days... |
I couldn't find Omega Man at:
Best Buy Circuit City WalMart Sam's Coconuts Sam Goody's Suncoast Kmart(!) Kinda sad. I should have gone with DDD in the first place. :( |
