Yep, I see from the back cover that this will include the Vincent Price "House of Wax" as well as the earlier Lionel Atwill/Fay Wray "Mystery of the Wax Museum." Two cool movies for the price of one! I already had this preordered, but that's an extra bonus.

One more month and those with tickets to the Egyptian Theatre for the 3-D World Film Fest will see "The House of Wax" exactly like it was shown...50 years ago!!!

I saw this in 3-D a few years ago. A whole different movie, since there's so many gimmicky scenes that play well in 3-D, but suck in 2-D. Like the bouncing ball on the board.

When I saw it in 3D my fav effect was the assistant jumping out of the front row to join the fight!
Would it be possible to release a 3D DVD? (Non-blue/red type of course) Could it work on projecton AND tube TVS? And how many glasses would they give us? Order more online? Order more if they broke?
Just thinking out loud I guess... Wish this one woulda been in 3D..if it's even possible.

A good quality 3-D HOUSE OF WAX DVD is easily done with field sequential technology, but Warner didn't want to do it. Odd, since they released a field sequential video disc in Japan eons ago which worked quite well. They could have easily ended illegal copies of that release from circulating by adding a 3-D version to their flat DVD.
Still, the MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM bonus is a nice bone.

Just compared "Mystery of the Wax Museum" DVD with the LD and guess what...same print.
1) DVD is window boxed all 4 sides during opening credits, LD is not.
2) There is a black smudge upper left corner in the beginning of the opening credits on both DVD and LD.
3) During the opening players credits, the picture shifts to the left and the volume goes way up and gets clearer on both DVD and LD.
4) After the opening credits when it shifts to the first female wax figure, there is a large red blotch to her left on both DVD and LD.
5) There are 3 large scratches(3 frames) at the beginning of the opening credits of the LD but are not there on the DVD, 3 frames removed.
6) They enhanced the color for the DVD because since it's the same print as the LD they have the equipment to do it now!
All in all, it does look much better, but could you imagine if they had done just any restoration what it could have looked like...it boggles the mind!!!

Mystery of the Wax Museum was likely restored the best it could have been.
The only source, before Turner's preservation efforts, was an original dye-transfer nitrate print in Jack L. Warner's private archive.
Considering that it was lost for many decades, it's amazing that it even survives in color.
