Like alot of others here I bought all the Bond SEs and am NOT gonna be buying them yet again. I paid the big bucks for them individually, then of course they released them at really nice prices last year; now theyre going to put these mega sets out once more followed by a moratorium (again) till the next Bond movie comes out????.....no, I'll stay with the current SEs!

This will most likely be just like the one that was released in Australia and Japan a few months back. You can expect it to look somewhat like this "of course, making room for Die Another Day."

Per several sites these are going to be the exact same disks
as the last time the films were released. If you have these films already there is no reason to buy again unless you would like more the one copy. The only difference may be in what films are grouped together in the box sets. The discs themselves are the same as before.

Have the first two box-sets and FRWL, only really care about picking up You Only Live Twice.
Good news!

I had a feeling this would happen, good thing I held off on DAD. Hopefully they'll redo the package to match the rest, like they did when Tomorrow Never Dies was put into the box sets.

I have waited for 3 years to buy Bond sets, I can wait for another 3 years to buy the "Updated 5.1" versions.
I hate when studios try to steal money out of my pocket by double dipping.

Well, a few sites have them at $19.98 each. DavisDVD being one of them:

I suppose that MGM could just release the boxes (in theory), but I don't know why they would. Boxed set #1 had individual releases, as did the previous 3 box release a few years ago.

Sorry to revive an old thread but ...
I just got the 3 boxed sets yesterday at a CAA Benefit, compliments of MGM. I already had the 3 boxes from before, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these. Maybe I'll just keep the ones that I'm missing and sell the rest ...
Anyway, Amazon.com has accurate descriptions and pictures of the DVDs. Die Another Day kinda sticks out since it has a different spine as the rest.

Couple questions...
Are all of the films anamorphic? I've put off getting the Bonds films for a while because of their availability, but I'm considering just buying all 3 sets now. I've basically seen all of the 80's and 90's Bond movies, most of which I like. I've never checked out any of the Connery films, which is weird because I like Connery a lot. Would you consider this set a good buy for someone who has never seen the Connery years and wants to have the later films?
I'm not as concerned about a re-release of SE's later on, since I only tend to devour extras on my absolutely favorite movies. If the PQ on these discs is generally good looking on a 16:9 set I may pick these up.

I don't think any reissue after the Nov. release will have more 'extras' as every one of the original Bond SE's is loaded with features. From the posts/links above, it looks like they'll mainly update the audio and video transfers.
But the original releases are just fine for me.

Well I briefly took a look at reviews for all the titles, and most of the Connery and some of the Moore films seemed to be lacking in audio, either via 1.0 mono or 2.0 tracks. I guess I'll just buy the individual movies I know I like for now.

Just check 'em out of your local library and be your own judge.

Where have you been living that you haven't seen Goldfinger by now?

They're not "lacking" they just contain each film's original audio mix (they didn't have much 5.1 in 1962)
I'm well aware that those titles weren't 5.1 in the theater in 1962. I'm not one of those people that assume everything should be 5.1. By lacking I meant the reviews stated that the tracks were not very good even by mono track standards. Trust me, I have no aversion to original soundtracks on DVD, but if they are not mixed well or have sound anomalies I'd rather have a remixed 5.1.

If ever there were movies I could recommend as blind buys, the Sean Connery James Bond films are worthy. Especially if you like the later films, the Connery Bonds are must-have movies for your collection. They are the best the Bond series ever got.

Why don't they just charge $2,000 for that cool and awesome looking box, and then just make ONE goddamn version of each bond film, without trying to suck their customers dry every year.

For 1.0 and 2.0 recordings, if there are sound anomalies there - it's a matter of supervised work on the masters. If sound anomalies are not fixed at the source - a 5.1 track just piles it higher and deeper.
If there are mixing errors in the original track - these can be fixed - if that is what the filmmakers want. That, however is not a compelling reason to want 5.1 - only a reason to correct the original mix.
To my view, 5.1 audio option can be a nice option but it should be in addition to the original audio not in replace of. For example, the current DVD of Thunderball is 5.1 only - no original mono audio option.
I read that the Bond DVDs to be released in a couple years will have the original audio and other audio options. Hopefully this is true.
btw, the remastered Thunderball Soundtrack CD is a joy.

2005 to be exact on the rerelease with better transfers and better sound. (and hopefully, commentarires from Moore, Laisenby, dalton and brosnon supposing no one dies within the next year)
