CKY (Camp Kill Yourself) dvd set question?

I've really been craving to finally buy CKY. There is a box set out there, with CKY 1 ,2 and 3 and the documentary. Online its about 40-50 bucks, I think best buy had it for 55 or so. They were out of it when I went to best buy. I came online and started looking around. Apparently in August a CKY triology is coming out. Retail was very cheap. BEst buy has it on pre sale for 20 bucks.

THe little bio I read on it, made it seem like it was identical to the box set. BUt I don't think thats right. That would be one hell of a price drop. Perhaps its a "best of" dvd or something like that?

I'm willing to shell out 50 bucks for the set, but if I can get it for 20 bucks when it comes out next month, I'll wait for that.

ANyone know about this? I've looked around but no places seem to have an aswer. BUy the box set or wait till August?

I want the full, uncut CKY set, not a best of or cut down set of any kind.

Thanks

PS How are those Steve-o videos? I saw two skits from his first video. Besides the scrotum stapler and human urinal, anything else really funny/repulsive?

I think you should just buy the boxset (plus CKY 4 seperatley) it is well worth it.

The Steve-o videos would be right up your alley if you like the CKY stuff. Vomiting, butthole bottle rocket launching, etc.

I"m sorry I have no specific information, but the trilogy you mention might explain why the CKY 4 disc boxset just went out of print. I got my 4-discer at Best Buy for about 44 bucks last year, but I think they jacked it up to over 60 bucks, so 20 would be very sweet for 3 discs.

Hey dude,

While I don't know anythign about this new release - I know. The CKY Box set available now does not include CKY 4 (which was recently release), rather just the first 3 films and then a making of doc. It's totally possible that these will be getting a bigger pressing with all the Jackass publicity - though it's not my place to say that's the exact reason.

Anyways, I ahven't checked out CKY4, but 1-3 are pretty funny if you're into that kind of humor.

Cheers

CKY4 is sort of a mixed bag. some new stuff tossed in with some stuff found on the previous 3 dvds. i haven't watched it in a while but i was kinda disappointed when i saw repeated segments.

The new "CKY Trilogy, Round 1" boxset appears to have CKY and the documentary.

There will also be a "CKY Trilogy, Round 2" which is CKY2K and CKY3. I believe it includes them remixed too. I don't know.

This is what I read on a CKY site (cky-merchandise.com)

I believe both sets are on one disc each...

I don't know. We seem to be left in the dark.

according to that site:

Round 1 is 100 minutes long and includes both Landspeed and the doc, as you said.

Round 2 is only 60 minutes and includes "remixed" versions of CKY2K and CKY3.

they can be had either seperately or as a 2 disc set. if what that site says is true (and since it's their site i assume that the info is accurate) then i would snag the actual 4 disc set. CKY2K and CKY3 in their original forms are both over an hour long plus each dvd has bonus footage. so there is at least an hour collectively hacked off those two titles. i've seen the 4-discer at our Best Buy many time...maybe i should pick it up if its going/has gone OOP.

I own the CKYs except the Documentary and CKY2K. I'll probably purchase CKY2K...Then Pick up both of these new volumes to compare...Then sell the ones I don't want to some friends or something.

And the CKYs are all out of print, that's for sure. I haven't seen them at Best Buy in quite some time either...

And thanks for the info!

I got the Steve-O videos real cheap ($10 for both sealed & brand new on eBay) and they were well worth it. If you can excuse the male nudity, you'll probably find yourself laughing till it hurts.

I give the strongest possible thumbs down the the CKY documentary. Just pure dreck that's not even "so bad it's good", just so bad it sucks and is unwatchable. And I've dug all the CKY, Jackass, CKY and Big Brother stuff, but that documentary should not make or break anyone's decision. I resent the fact that I own it. I"m more proud of my Front Row Classics collection.

hey nature boy

what really is the documentary? Does it really tell the story of CKY or is it just another CKY dvd? It seems pretty damn stupid to have a documentary on people doing stupid stunts. and why is it so bad?

I ****ing loved the documentary. It shows many ****ing skits that the guys from CKY did before ****ing Landspeed and shows the guys commenting on them. Most of the skits ARE ****ing "so bad it's good," such as the Mad Scientist. Some small ****ing portions of these ****ing skits can be seen in Landspeed, and this shows how a short, humorous ****ing clip comes from a much longer skit. Also, the ****ing documentary has a segment on CKY the ****ing band that gives a good ****ing (although brief) background on how they got ****ing started.

I'd definitely recommend the ****ing box set. Bam Margera has been sued numerous ****ing times for not getting permission to ****ing show ****ing faces in these ****ing videos and I'm sure that these new ****ing versions will either be blurred or have some ****ing segments removed. I know that the retail version of CKY4 has ****ing segments removed (when it ****ing first came out last November. ****, it was only available at skateshops and some online stores, later going to Best Buy and similar stores).

Also, the site mentioned above (cky-merchandise.com) is not endorsed by CKY. The "official" shop is www.transitionstore.com. They benefit from using this store and it is run by a close ****ing friend of theirs. The shop also gets ****ing exclusives from time to time, by the way. (Sorry to go on and on, but I never post much, and CKY ****ing is ****ing a topic that I follow ****ing closely.)

I believe the new "CKY Trilogy" is a single disc re-issue of the 4 previous discs

First off, in fairness, I do apologize for editorializing on a non-review board, but I was trying to help people from spending money they might not need to. I"m sure the documentary has it's fans, but myself, nor other CKY fans I've talked to have been among them.

That said, the "documentary" is really more of a mockmentary, with mainly Brandon and Bam playing these hillbilly characters. I believe the main jist of it is "How to Break into a House". Intercut are the usual skate trips(and a smattering of pranks, more skating). Sounds decent enough on paper, but I found it incredibly unfunny, and just all around lame. I don't remember much detail, because it was only in my DVD player once, over a year ago. Now that I have CKY 4, I've actually considered putting that in that flimsy yellow box rather than the documentary. Since the doc is only found in the boxset, I"ve considered ebaying for those not willing to drop the money. I personally found no redeeming entertainment value.

As for the original documentary concept, I think that actually could have been potentailly compelling so I was excited for it. I mean, exploring the mindset that fosters this kind of mad behavior is something that I would be interested in, in addition to how the vids get made(it's usually a chore to round people up for video shoots when there is no pay, so that's always fun).
