Short 5 dvds

Has anyone seen or purchased any of the Short 5 dvds? I have only seen them at Fry's Electronics. At Amazon they have the Diversity, but I have seen Insanity, Chaos, and a few others. I'm wondering if these are good blind buys. I am interested in Independant cinema so I think I may enjoy these.

-Thanks a lot.

I have Short 10-Chaos mainly for the G. Lucas student film, THX 1138 4EB. I like the rest of the collection as well....know nothing about the other dvds.

I own Short 2: Dreams, mainly for Chris Marker's seminal short La Jetée (the inspiration for Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys). The rest of the shorts on this collection are just so-so. It's also cheap (about 10 bucks).

BTW, if anyone is a Marker fan & is all-region capable, Nouveaux Films will be releasing a set in the UK (Region 2 PAL) featuring two of his masterworks, La Jetée and Sans Soleil. It comes out on July 28th, and is going for around $20 on Amazon UK. Thus far, Sans Soleil is not available on DVD in R1.

...imnsho all SHORT discs are interesting (and cheap!) - admittedly some do contain fluff, but there's always at least one or two items on each disc to catch a person's fancy (e.g. the original version of SLING BLADE, or LA JETEE)...

...then there's the SHORT SHORTS disc...

...for the adventurous there are, not one, but two JAN SVANKMAJER discs...

...for those interested in music there are the CIRCUIT discs...

...everyone of these DVDs offers as a major added advantage that they let you watch a 20-minute or half-hour program if you feel like watching something but just don't feel up to watching a whole movie...

. . . . . .

My local HMV shop here in the UK happened to have a few on the shelves today breaking the street date......so i duly bought a copy haven't had chance to check out Sans Soleil yet but i've seen La Jetee before.
Incidentally there is quite a nice glossy accompanying booklet inside which certainly just beats a chapter insert (although there are only chapter stops for Sans Soleil due to it's 100min running time)

Not sure whether they are that easy to come across any more but there a few releases from atomfilms.com that you may still be able to get hold of.
