Better to double dip or not

I went to see Bad Boys 2 today and when the Columbia/Tri-Star logos opened at the beginning I wondered....when should I get this DVD, this movie will inevitably be released numerous times. And then I started thinking, is that really that bad? I mean look at Paramount. Have they ever re-released a DVD? Sure they got Forrest Gump right but what about Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Scrooged, and tons others? At least Columbia betters these films with its re-releases? So I ask you people of DVDTalk: is it such a bad thing to double dip?

First off, how about just enjoy the dang movie and not worry about the darn DVD for a while.

But on the general subject of DVD double dipping - its what consumer in general do that matters not what we as individuals think. If consumers want to reward DVD producers by double-dipping - well we will get what we deserve.

in general, Im a patient dvd consumer.. I dont care how many versions they make so long as I get the features I want (5.1, ana WS, and extended cut for certain films etc). So bring on the double, tripple and quadripple (?) dippin! 8)

I'll double or triple dip when I want to. I'll always want the best version I can get....but how many I have to go through to get there is not that big of deal. no reason for me to whine about it. you want it, buy it. you dont...dont.

I try to be patient and wait for a release I am happy with. I love extras but for me the most important thing is a good quality transfer of the theatrical cut.

For some movies I am (impatiently) waiting for the third DVD to be released in hopes that it is the edition I will finally buy: Amadeus, Star Trek Wrath of Khan, JFK, Eve's Bayou, Lethal Weapon off the top of my head. I'm not sure yet what I will decide about Dances with Wolves.

I agree wholeheartedly....ideally it would be great if you get every supplement and best audio/video options all in the one release..however we don't live in an 'ideal' world and you just have to accept the nature of the industry if your interest in a particular title is such that you want to own the most 'complete' version.
