if they were smart they'd schedule a price cut and a re-air of the series on the network around the time the two Mars probes land. catch people while they are interested in the space program and make some sales. in 97 when Pathfinder landed people got interested and excited. that excitement could be repeated in january when the Spirit and Opportunity spacecrafts get to Mars.

Yeah...from what I gather, the MSRP price is always ridiculously high, and retailers lower the price anywhere from $5-$10 below that...so for instance, the movie Blow has an MSRP of $20, and that is why you can get it for $14.99 pretty much anywhere...so all the ones that are $15 now, will be available for $10 in a couple of weeks.

For the titles that are selling for around 14.99, they have a list price of 19.99. Now, I believe that those titles now have a 14.99 or less list price, which means that we will probably see them for 10 dollars or less.. which is a great deal!

If you look at the BB/CC ads for the past few months, especially, there seems to be ALOT of older titles that don't seem to be "moving" out of the stores.
What I'm talking about, are the "if you buy this brand new title, you can get, one or more of, these older titles for 9.99" sales.
Maybe this discounting, is their way of dealing with the problem ?

The thing is, as DVD has mainstreamed, people just aren't going to be paying the $30 MSRP level that DVDs had four years ago.
Retail stores -- aside from Suncoast -- aren't going to be stocking catalog titles with twenty-to-thirty dollar price tags. Wal-Mart and Target want DVDs they can sell cheaply and quickly. The studios either lower their prices, or they don't sell DVDs.
