Happy to see This Property Is Condemned , Hud, OUATITW, and a few others which will be easy buys for me, but some of the discs in there (King David?, The Last Tycoon? Lipstick? Olivers Story) seem to be somewhat barrel scrapings.

at least when there is still more A (and even B-list) material waiting to come out.

guess it will be '04 *at least* before we get Foul Play,
Let's Scare Jessica To Death, Ace In The Hole, Ragtime, Murder On The Orient Express, If, and the rest.

VERY disappointed that Foul Play isn't on there. after Martin asked us DVD Talkers about it, I thought there was a good chance it would show up soon. guess not.

AM glad to see
  • Young Sherlock Holmes
  • the Great Gatsby
  • Dragonslayer
  • Star Trek V: CE [though it's a shame Shatner couldn't do what he wanted to do with it...]

I cannot believe they are releasing Pretty Baby onto DVD. I won't be buying it, i'm just suprised they're actually releasing it.

I'm excited about Once Upon a Time in the West and Hud, but nothing else (including the third- & fourth-rate Neil Simon).

although its somewhat dramatically inert, it still contains Brooke Shields best performance ( i realize that isn't saying much) along with a beautiful musical score.
i 've always loved the milieu of the film- New Orleans always seems to have a lush character about it- espeically this period.

if anything, this dvd version will be the most chaste release of the movie on video since from the looks of it, the film has always been presented open-matte.
the matting will cover up at least some of the nudity of BS, so pervs can probably avoid this purchase

Changing the special effects doesn't change the bad script.

YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES!!! That is FANTASTIC news!
Any word on extras? Last I heard there was supposed to be a commentary. Any deleted scenes?

Also thrilled about CAPTAIN KRONOS, and yes that's with a "K"

What is up with Paramount? They will release that piece of crap "Lipstick" but not "Day of the Locust"?

Does anyone have an e-mail address for Paramount's DVD department?

Hmm.... maybe Hud from that list... but nothing else tickles my fancy. Black Sunday's a good flick, but I don't see myself being anxious to pop that one into the player.

So... yeah... where is Day of the Locust?

You are not alone...that was the one that stood out for me too. I think it got a bad rap when it was released. I liked it...

A couple caught my eye, especially Black Sunday, I've been waiting for that one. Also Captain Kronos, Once Upon a Time in the West, Hud, The Out-of Towners and Young Sherlock Holmes for the kids...I do wish Day of the Locust was on there though...

Make sure you watch past the credits of Young Sherlock Holmes for a great kicker scene.

YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES....YES!!!

One of the most underrated movies ever! I hope this is more than just a bare-bones release...and I pray it's widescreen! I've been waiting for this one for a long time! Great movie!

Definitely excited for Young Sherlock Holmes and Pretty Baby.

Everytime I see one of these threads, I open it hoping to see Bertolucci's The Conformist announced. Oh well.

AMEN! However since it is Paramount issuing this, I'm not holding my breathe that it'll even have the original trailer on it. Was hoping Anchor Bay might somehow get hold of this title and do an SE. Oh well - better than my worn out FS VHS copy I suppose.

And Numanoid is right - the bit after the credits it GREAT! Should be added to the "scene after credits" thread in the Movie Forum!
