Seven Samurai authenticity

Hi all I have a simple question.

I recently aquired the Seven Samurai Criterion. Is it authentic?

Details:

isbn: 0-78002-068-5
contains insert
disc art runs all the way to the ring and stops(no white ring)

has no upc on back
contains another insert with all the criterions released up to #156

those last two seem wierd to me.

thanks for all the help.

Sounds like it's one that was originally included in Criterion's Kurosawa box-set. Does the cover have a blue tint on it?

Uh-oh... you should do a search and delete your thread before the exasperated Criterion snooty-heads chastise you for asking such a common question.

It's from the boxed set (that's why there is no UPC).

Do a search on Seven Samurai Criterion Matt, and you'll see there are quite a few of those as well. Roll your eyes all you want at me, but whenever somebody asks about Seven Samurai, they basically get the same treatment that people get for asking why Criterions are expensive. Anyway, whatever.

When people ask if they have a bootleg, they get answers. When people ask what makes Criterion so special, they get a few ignorant bashers, as well as a few people who explain what Criterion actually is, as well as a few people who express contempt at the same silly question over and over. That's just the way it goes, and it makes sense to me.

Asking about a particular DVD and asking about Criterion in general are two totally seperate things. I don't see what makes the distinction between the two so hard to figure out.
