Treehouse of Horror?

Why is this being released exactly? Won't every Simpsons Halloween episode be out eventually?

Sure, if you want to wait until 2020.

$$$$$$$

Seriously, as forign and strange as this sounds to us, not everyone wants to buy a whole bunch of box sets of the Simpsons. If some folks only like the Halloween episodes, this might make some sense (I guess). Besides, at the rate of one season every 14 or 15 months, it might take quite a while to collect 'em all.
It was a strange release decision, but not as strange as the recent "Best of Season 1" Friends DVDs that came out recently. What's up with THAT?

So which Treehouses of Horror are being released, anyhow? Amazon and DDD had very little info on this when last I checked.

Does anyone have more info on this release? Specifically, which Treehouse of Horrors are being included? Is it a "first TOH to present" release? Or just a few (best of)? Thanks in advance.

Edited: Jason beat me to it "by that much"

I think it's a great idea. I actually sugested it during their poll about how to release the Simpsons episodes. I was never a big enough fan to actually buy these by season, but I love the Treehouse episodes. This is for those of us who aren't going to buy the season sets.

I think it's a great idea too, but I wish it had more than four episodes on it.

It has the same episodes as the R2 release: V, VI, VII and XII, and a brief Kang & Kodos featurette.

I will wait for the season sets myself, but I think it's a great idea marketing wise. The Halloween specials are by far the most popular episodes of the Simpons (second only to the "Yvan eht Noij" episode).

I'm gonna wait for the season sets to get all the Halloween specials since I doubt this will have the most recent ones on there.

It would be a great idea if they are releasing ALL Treehouse of Horror eps, but they are only releasing four. I'm not sure who's releasing this or who has the rights or whatever, but I would guess this is a remnant of those four episode "Best Of" tapes that were released. I certainly wouldn't buy them.

I'm sure if this one does well, they will release a second volume.

My point is that I don't think this is a spur-of-the-moment type deal. They've probably had this lined up for years, and they made the jump from VHS to DVD at a late moment which delayed it further. It's just these crummy "Best Of" comps which are owned by some company (or are under some other licensing agreement) other than Fox.

I think releasing a dvd with the Halloween episodes is a great idea, but I also wish they'd put more than four on one disk.

I still might pick this up because 1. I love the Simpsons and 2. I haven't bought any of the early season sets because, oh yeah, they're not funny until about the 4th season.

It does seem kind of cheap to release 4 eps on this DVD and 6 eps on each full season DVD.

I will defintely be picking this up as I think The Simpsons is the greatest show on tv. It will be a nice addition to the Season 1 & 2 sets I already own.

If you are a big Simpsons fan, and have not picked up Season 1 or 2 because you don't think they are funny, PICK 'EM UP! The commentary for each episode is great and you can learn a lot about the characters and whatnot. Looking forward to Season 3 release as this is when the animation was good and the voices sound like the voices we know today!

You rit it right on the nose PribbleDVD The commentaries alone are worth the price of the DVD's. And for that fact, check out the Futurama Season 1 Set, it is equally as good. I'll wait for as long as it takes if we can get the quality of commentaries for every season of the Simpsons as we got for the first two.
