The new version seems to NOT have some features on the limited edition version. How many of you are going to keep it?

Keep it, of course! One should never, ever "get rid of" a DVD; ... especially such a great limited edition. The new one will be placed on my shelf beside it.

I've been debating this in my head since it was anounced. Still no conclusion.

Well first I need to find out how much better the new transfer is. If I do end up getting the new one, I'll probably hang on to the 2-disc set.

That's exactly what these studio's don't seem to comprehend. To make a better version, one has to include everything that was previously available on the original disc and then add additional content.

I'll be keeping the LE in addition to getting the new one.

I'm keeping it. The limited edition has that nice holographic (or whatever they call it) cover and the television edit of the film.

Other than the new transfer, what does the new one have that would warrant an upgrade?

The new version has the Criterion LD audio commentary with John Carpenter, Debra Hill, and Jamie Lee Curtis. It is widely considered one of the finest tracks ever recorded, and we have been denied it for some time.

According to a post on the HTF, the upcoming Halloween re-release will not contain the extra scenes from the television version. Not via extended branching as originally planned, nor as supplements on the second disc as was reported later.

So it looks like you guys might want to hang onto your limited editions after all.

I'm keeping what I've got, and I've already got the commentary on my laserdisc so theres no need to upgrade.

I however would love to see Anchor Bay snag the rights to do the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6..........at least that would be something new.

This looks pretty solid for 18 dollars or so. I'm pretty sure the B&Ms will have it for 15 on release (hopefully). Yeah, I'm there.

I'm going to keep both. Its nice that Criterion let them use the commentary for the new set.
