The guy rushing onto the stage while Simon sang the part about hearing John Lennon had died during "Late Great Johnny Ace" was chilling.

Paul Simon and Art Garfunkal I watch that Vhs concert about once a year, along with the Annie Lenox in Central park only Annie is on DVD.
P.S. I liked Paul Simon in the "We Are The World" hosted by Jane Fonda only on LP Vinyl or VHS.
Cyndi Lauper is in that along with the newly released Concert in Berlin, only her hair is only one color brown.

Oh sadness, it looks like this release is going to be dissapointing for the die hard fans. Some of the reviews have come down and Late Great Johnny Ace HAS been cut from this release!! How can they edit this documentation of an event?? Just because it didn't go exactly according to plan? Plus the DVD is only in DD 2.0! I understand this is priced as a budget release, but this is deserving of so much more!
I'm guessing that they just slapped the CD soundtrack onto the DVD, and having never bothered remixing The Late Great Johnny Ace for the CD they just cut it out of the visual to save them the expense. Very irresponsible in my view. Also according to reviews the individual songs aren't even all broken up into their own chapter stops... how lazy??
This question may be better suited for the International Forum, but there seems to be an uncut R0, 2-Disc Korean release that is advertised as DD 5.1 and DTS. Does anyone know anything about this? It's available on both Ebay AND koreandvds.com Is it possible that this is a bootleg? Would koreandvds.com carry it if it was? I can repost this in International if the moderators deem it necessary. Thank you.

The VHS Concert and the CD are identical except for the CD's omission of The Late Great Johnny Ace AND the finale when they play Late in the Evening for a second time.
The DVD HAS the second Late in the Evening that was omitted from the CD but DOES NOT have The Late Great Johnny Ace. I think that maybe they originally mixed the second Late in the Evening for the CD but never The Late Great Johnny Ace and didn't want to a) Show Paul scared out of his head when the fan ran onstage or b) Pay for mixing the audio source so they ended up using the CD track instead of making any effort to improve the sound (to surround instead of only stereo). Either way I'm very dissapointed.

Weird... Is the LD 2.0 or 5.1? All of the tracklistings online omit Late Great Johnny Ace, so, either it's not there, or this is an oversight on the part of a very many reviewer... I hope it's the latter.

The CBS/Fox Video LD (UPC 8616271336) is Stereo 2.0. It was released in 1992, so DD was not widely available, if at all. The Late Great Johnny Ace is Chapter 15 on Side 2. Late in the Evening encore is Chapter 23. 88 minutes total.

I hardly watch the Vhs tape, to spend money for a DVD would be pointless. I watch the "The Beach Boys at Knebworth" 1980 in DD5.1 it has all the Wilson brothers performing before Dennis Wilsons drowning and Carl Wilsons Lung Cancer death. I watch it all the time S&G or Annie lennox in central park, are viewed about once a year or once every couple of years.

I just got mine in the mail and I am certainly dissapointed that Johnny Ace was left off. That was an outrageous decision possibly even worse than not doing the 5.1 remix.
I don't regret buying it at the bargain price but I would have gladly spent more to have it get the treatment that it deserves.

Neither the chapter list on the disc itself nor on the insert even mentions “The Late Great Johnny Ace”, so good luck in finding it (okay, I won’t play mean…it’s after “A Heart in New York”. Whoever made the decision to present the disc in that fashion, it was a poor one.

It does suck that such a great performance is omitted from the chapter list. But at least our fears of its total omission were unfounded.
For reference, The Late Great Johnny Ace starts at 45:30. The unplanned audience-member visit is at 49:00.
