The Great Escape Wrong Aspect Ratio
THE GREAT ESCAPE-one of the greatest world war two films ever seems to need an adjustment with its aspect ratio as seen on current dvds. This current dvd has an aspect ratio of something like 2:78 when in fact it should be more like 2:35. I hope when the special edition which I believe is in the works, comes out, this problem will be corrected . Beleive me this film was not shot in ultra-panavision 70.

The old WS MGM laserdisc (not the Criterion) was 2.73:1
The region 2 DVD special edition release is 2.31:1
