My theory is that the guy who bidded $1700 (when the auction was only up to $16.00) is just another alias of the seller. My reasoning behind this is 1) he has a zero rating 2) when looking at the bid history it seems this bidder was only trying to jack up the price 3) the seller could've just been seeing if anyone would bid after him resulting in a super-high end price and 4) he could've just been bidding that astronomical price to 'cancel' the auction, figuring no one would pay that much.

Or maybe you have some sort of international money laundering scheme going on here. The DVD could be incidental. Maybe it's not really a Scarface DVD, but secret documents being smuggled out of Asia...
All kidding aside, I think it's probably a case of rogue bidders trying to make trouble for an obvious bootlegger.

If it's from Malaysia, then the bootleg theory is very probable. Friend of mine is from Malaysia and used to get the Malaysian DVDs sent to him in the USA for like USD4.00 and then sell them on eBay! Anyway - anybody selling bootlegs DESERVES to be severely burned. Serves the sucker right!! Told my friend from Malaysia the same thing when he got burned a few times. Ha, ha!
