I bought 2001 in June of 99, the day I bought my player. That week I bought Heathers, Lolita, and Vertigo the next day. Have not slowed down since.
|
Terminator 2, when it was first released years ago.
|
The first DVD I ever saw was Jumanji(the original bare bones release). I had just gotten back from seeing Alien Resurrection at the theater and my parents were watching it on their newly purchased DVD player. It looked and sounded great, but I still didn't know much about the format and refused to let go of laserdiscs.
The first DVD I ever bought I believe was Legal Wreckin 2(again the original non-anamorphic release). I had gotten a new computer in August 1998 and it came with a DVD-Rom player. That's when I really became hooked on the format. |
The Green Mile from a store that broke the release date. Must have been 3 years ago. The first dvd I watched was Bride of Chucky which I saw a few months before that.
|
Enemy of the State and The Matrix
|
I bought BOOGIE NIGHTS the day it was released , then I bought a dvd player that friday. I think this was back in 97 or 98.
|
Sadly my first dvd was the cell, bought this on a blind buy regretted it ever since.
|
The Matrix and Gladiator: Signature Series
|
October 1999: The Silence of the Lambs.
|
The Thing and 5 DIVX titles. That same week I got The Alien Legacy box set.
|
I remember I bought a DVD player before there was really anything out that I wanted on DVD. I ended up getting R.E.M. Roadmovie, simply to have something to use in my player. that was about 5 1/2 years ago, I think I have somewhere around 250 DVDs now. Also remember the Player cost me about $700 at the time, if only I knew how cheap they would be today.

I got The Negotiator as my 1st DVD in 1998. It's still one of my favorite movies! :)
~LP |
Galaxy Quest or Matrix, it has been awhile since I bought them.
Iron Giant was the 5th or 6th DVD I picked up. |
The Nightmare On Elm Street DVD Boxed set the day it was released. I bought this several months before I got the player in preparation.
|
1998...Porky's, Marked for Death, Hope Floats, Predator, Young Frankenstein and...whatever else was in Fox's first wave of titles.
(it's been a while, and dammit if I can't remember back that far!) Cheers, Erik |

Can anyone else say that End of Days, Final Destination, and Pitch Black were their first three dvds? :)
Then I bought Blade and M:I 2. This was back in 2001, I believe. Over 200 dvds later.....:) |
Sept '99
Leaving Las Vegas & The Fugutive |
Summer 1999, Con Air
I got a DVD-ROM b/c I hear you could play movies on it. I didn't buy my first DVD for several months. They said the video and audio quality was much better than VHS, so for this reason, I got an action movie. I spent $25 back then! If I could do it again, I'd buy Rocky 4. |
I bought The Fifth Element and Starship Troopers for a friend for Christmas, but it turned out he had both already. So I kept them for myself and bought him something else.
At the time I didn't have a DVD player or anything, but I figured I'd eventually get one. I can't remember what year that was. I can't remember what I bought first to start replacing my collection after my house was broken into and they were stolen. |
