Confused about OOP Fox 2-Disks sets.....

I know that they are all now available at Costco and I just saw them all at one. The questions i have are;
1. Are they no longer OOP?
2. I heard something about new covers and new packaging but didn't see anything of this nature at the costco I went to

from my understanding...

FOX [in their oh-so-infinite wisdom] decided to stop producing the 2 disc sets [since the DVD/movie geeks should already have bought their copies already..] in favour of producing SINGLE disc sets for the rest..

[even though, in most places, there'd only be a couple bucks difference..]

I think he's talking about the oop dvd's like Fight Club. Gladiator, Minority Report, and Shrek aren't OOP yet i believe.

Nor are they FOX flicks..

Perhaps I should answer it like this...

1. FOX is no longer producing the double disc sets you've seen at Costco.
2. I heard something about new covers and new packaging but didn't see anything of this nature at the costco I went to
2. The new covers and packaging are the single disc sets.

Costco/BJ's/Sam's warehouses have a really weird way of stocking inventory. Basically, you have to grab something once you see it, otherwise you may never see it there again. [mainly regarding DVDs/CDs/computer software/Books]

A couple weeks ago, out of the blue, these FOX discs started showing up at Costco for no apparent reason. Since, as has been reported in THIS thread, some of these discs are OOP [due to FOX manufacturing the new SINGLE disc versions], this is what makes it a good deal. Of course, YMMV.

Just because FOX isn't making them anymore, doesn't mean you won't find 'em in a store that has some laying around...it just means they won't be as readily available..

Just because they're out of print doesn't mean you won't still be able to find them in the stores. It just means the studio has stopped producing any more new copies of them.

Also, Peter Staddon of Fox said in one of those chats that they would be bringing them back from time to time.

You said it yourself, it has a different cover. It's not unheard of for a studio to revamp a cover without changing the disc contents.

Sorry for the dumb question, but are the single disk version just a bare bones version of film without the second extras disk?

The single disc version is usually just the same first disc that was included with the initial two-disc set. So ... the single discs usually contain, at the very least, a commentary track.
