X2 DVD news

From DVD Answers:

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment have made the tentative announcement that X2 will hit shelves on the 17th September throughout the world. The only details we have at the moment is that it will be a 2-disc release, and also out on the same day will be a 4-disc boxset containing X-Men: 1.5 X-Treme Edition as well as the X2 DVD. Take a look below for the artwork for both...

This supposed box art seems kind of fake. Full credit listings at the bottom? And Fox suddenly decides to call it X-Men 2 instead of X2: X-Men United? *shrug* Whatever. Hopefully the date is at least accurate.

That is a horrible Photoshop cutout job.

According to the "DVD in 50" article, we won't see the DVD until 2004

Clues that its fake

-wrong title of the second film
-second film appearing on top of the double feature
-full credit listings on the front
-the discs shown for the first one aren't the actual ones
-"4 disc extreme edition of the first film"....there are 2 films
-discs not even close to being a perfect circle

I'm not gonna say the whole thing is fake, the art work just looks a bit hokey. Maybe it's just some early concept work.

The title thing doesn't worry me. The movie itself goes by "X2" while commercials call it "X2: X-Men United." Fox could've made a compromise so people'd know it's X-Men. The credits and the discs are what get to me.

Also the "DVD in 50" thing also mentions LOTR TTT and Finding Nemo for 2004. We know LOTR TTT is set for this year and there's some rumors that have Nemo also set for later this year.

I agree that the covers look fake. I have my doubts if it will arrive early this year.

've seena lot of official print ads say "X-Men 2" with the stupid "X-Men United" underneath... but sometimes absent.

Could be leaked temp artwork.

"Here boss, I cooked this up with photoshop in the last ten minutes, is this the cover you wanted?"

- "No, dammit! Give me BIG HEADS!"

That's the UK poster art. For some reason, all the advertising here called it "X-Men 2", but the movie itself used the title "X2". "X-Men United" was not used in either case. (That's also the UK cover art for X-Men 1.5 on the bottom picture.)

it's too bad the folks at Deltamac decided to give it only a vcd release.

i think in australia, it was released as 'x-men 2'

That list isn't accurate anyway. It says The Lord of the Rings Two Towers Extended Edition is coming out in 2004 which we know it isn't. Also Finding Nemo is on that list; wasn't that rumored as a Nov/Dec release?

What the heck is 1.5 X-Treme Edition???? Another release of the movie???

No studio in their right mind would wait until 2004 to release the movie. It will come out in early fall..

Despite the bogus covers, that would still be a pretty cool looking cover for X2.

Might be from a different region. The "1.5 X-treme Edition" is what it was called in atleast R2. It uses the same art even.

The 17th is a Wednesday. And we will see Nemo in 2003, November 4 to be exact. People need to read a little more into release dates.

We have had some news regarding the Japanese release... Check it out here. DTS and, apparently, the final cover art (which looks much better than the supposed Photoshopped efforts seen here).

They can put just X2 on the front of the box for all I care, the content on the inside is what really makes the difference for me.

Lots of making of, bloopers and deleted sceens are my favorites.

From Upcomingdiscs.com Forums...

I thought you might be interested in seeing the region 2 cover art for the upcoming release of X-Men 2. The region 1 release supposedly will have similar artwork.

The Japanese title is "X-Men 2". The American title is "X2". I doubt they'll change much more than the title for the North American release.
