• Quoth purplechoe •
too bad mcbg1 (was that his name?) got banned. I would have loved to see him in this thread..., maybe not.

Should we all report it to a moderator in his honor?

How about this: You all don't know what your talking about so shut the hell up.

That's what this thread has been missing.

This is borderline demanding its own thread, but looking at the headlines, I see this:

Twentieth Century Fox Home Video has announced the lightening fast DVD release for the American Idol inspired From Justin to Kelly. Set for release on August 26th From Justin to Kelly will be presented in both anamorphic widescreen and full frame with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and feature: 2 New musical dance numbers, audio commentary by Director Robert Iscove and stars Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson, From Justin to Kelly "video scrapbook", Center stage with Kelly and Justin featurette, 'Singers Who Dance, Dancers Who Sing' featurette, a Gag Reel and 3 Deleted Scenes.
As I understand it, the film is a gag reel unto itself (as noted by gagging audience members), so that's duplicate information.

At first I thought this was really funny....

then I realized that millions of dollars was spent making and marketing this trash.

It could have been better spent on many classics not yet on DVD!

Debut in the theaters against Hulk.

Debut on video against LOTR:TTT.

This must be the kamikaze school of film marketing.

audio commentary by ... stars Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson
I might rent it just for that.

I was really holding out hope for a mcbg1 commentary to be on the disc but no luck.

They better not put both widescreen and full-frame on the same one-sided disc along with extras! The bit rate would suffer and I would see compression artifacts not amazing jubilant dancing!

The movie has nothing to do with American IdolBesides, AI isn't a reality show, it's a talent show. Talent shows have been on TV since the inception of TV and on radio before that.

"Reality shows" are where people live their life and interact with others while pretending the cameras aren't there/ignoring the cameras. American Idol is not that.

I don't know....not totally a flop. I mean, it DID pull in a whopping $23,745 in 108 theaters last weekend.

Seriously, even though they spent Twenty mil making and marketing this piece of trash, what is most appalling is that it has actually almost hit $5 million at the BO. whoever decided this was a good idea should be fined $20 million just on principle to make up the cost.

WOW a audio commentary by the two "stars" and the director! I might rent it if I hear the audio commentary consist of them self-glorifiyng each other, with the director keep pointing out all the "brilliant" camera shots, his "superb" directing, or hear Kelly claim "I am bigger than the Beatles" or some crazed ego crap. I have heard some commentary tracks in which the makers defend their stinkers, and it does make a fascinating psychological evening.

I will definitely rent this one for my "Bad Movie Night" party in August. July's "Bad Movie Night" party picks are "The Real Cancun" and "Jackass"
