Disney makes it illegal to sell "hero" in the us!

"URGENT NOTE: According to Disney*, who claims exclusive North American distribution rights to this film, it is a violation of United States law for any North America-based company to sell this title. Any such competitors of ours selling this title are doing so in violation of U.S. law. We are as unhappy about this as you, and we thank you in advance for your continued support of HKFlix.com."

So if you want it, you have to wait until it comes out durring winter (it will be the 93 min version, possibly dubbed), or go on ebay to find it.
get this version

it has dts

Bad news, especially if the "authorized" version will be a chop-shop job.

Same happens for just about any film disney owns the distribution for in the U.S. nothing new here. there is still ways to get Legit versions. don't resort to bootlegs and hopefully they do a good job on the film and offer subs.

It stinks that HKFlix can't sell this title. I've never ordered from them, but they have a good reputation. However, now people who normally would've ordered through them will have to seek another source.

Di$ney = suck.

Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis? You can find it right now just about anywhere. Cheaper if you get it used. No need to wait.

Enjoy.

K

P.S. Guys, this movie was released by Columbia/Tristar, not Disney.

I trust that this movie will be treated as well as CTHD and will be released in both subbed and dubbed. It is Miramax after all and they do resepect independant and foriegn films.

But CTHD was the aberation of the millenium, grossing $128M and winning four Oscars. You cannot make any comparison between the two. But then based on your second sentence I guess you were joking too.

People, we can't read your mind through the internet! Clarity rules!

I was planning on ordering Hero this weekend along with Battle Royale and Shaolin Soccer. Guess I'm gonna have to do some searching to get Hero.

Shaolin Soccer is also under Miramax so that goes under the same ban as Hero.

If you want the R3 version with the subs at the beginning and end, DDDHouse has it for $120 HK. Works out to around $15.39 US. Shipping for one DVD is about $3.85 for a total of $19.24.

(Of course, you could also buy a some other titles and save on shipping for multiple titles. They have quite a few cheap HK horror movies.)

The only problem with the dts region 0 dvd of hero, is that there are no subs for the opening prolouge and epilouge. BTW, I saw crouching tiger a few weeks after it came out and the theater only had subtitles.

I'm glad I bought it from HKFlix when I did. I had a feeling I'd better get it fast before Disney stepped in and ruined the fun. But still, for those who didn't get it yet, there are some very reputable HK dealers that have this, so hopefully no one will have to resort to "Boots R Us", oops, I mean Ebay.

Doesn't Miramax also own the US rights to Oshii's Avalon?

Good thing I got the R3 DVD recently from DDDHouse, although I have a sneaking suspicion they'll continue to sell it regardless of what Mickey says.

Do you mean "Hero" as in Jet Li's Hero? That hasn't been released in U.S. theaters yet?

when you go to hkflix.com, and go to hero, it'll say that they can't sell it.

And dvdgiant, no, mirmaxe is slated to release the movie by november or december for the oscar buzz.
