Hang-gliding scenes on DVD
Help needed!
I work for a production company and we are putting together a reference reel for an upcoming project. Does anyone know of any movies available on DVD which have hang-gliding scenes in them? We've got Operation Condor so far and (for the soaring feel) Brazil, but very little else. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Jurassic Park 3? didn't that have some hang glinding? I think at the start is has parasailing, which is different I know, but I thought there was some later. I might just be confusing it with the Lost World's alternate ending, which was redone for Jp3.
But JP3 sucks, so it's probably not worth looking

There's a quick cut to some hang gliders, during the big Bruce Willis and Jane March boink scene in The Color Of Night.
Uhhhh... don't ask me why, though.

Episode 13 of The Planet of the Apes TV series has just what you're looking for!
I just watched this the other night and there's certainly lot's of high-flying monkey action for ya there TREX, check it out.
I'm sad though, because now I'm finished watching them all.
From the Digitally Obsessed review...
Episode 13: Up Above the World So High
In the last episode, the group stumbles onto Leuric, a human who has developed a crude hang glider. When he is captured, chimpanzee Carsia is sent by the High Council to investigate. Galen romances her, but is disturbed to find that she has an agenda all her own to wanting to make Leuric fly again. There are some interesting moments here, so this episode merits three bananas.

The opening scene in "24-Hour Party People" (good flic... worth watching well past the hang-gliding).
I haven't any idea what the name of this next recommendation is, except that it was one of the more memorable MST3Ks... the hero (a Conan the Barbarian/Beastmaster sorta fella) fashions a hang-glider out of animal skins and tree parts, using it to escape the clutches of the baddies, perhaps rescuing a fair damsel in the process (I sorta forget the particulars, but remember the gut-wrenching laugh-spasms watching him soar over the wilderness). As with the "24-hour" scene, this might add a bit of comic relief to your reel.

I'm pretty sure that "Chicken Run" had a hanggliding scene.
At this site:

there are a bunch of hanggliding clips. Not on DVD, but it might have what you are looking for.

I've watched a few of the movie clips from www.vvhga.org , but if you are looking for a good movie of a hangglider from a distance, look at the one entitled oceanside. If you are looking for a good movie of a hangglider from a camera mounted right above the person flying it, then check out xcandersons.
There are also some nice videos of launches.
Looks like fun!

You may want to find (or record and burn to DVD) one called "Sky Riders" (1976). I don't think it's currently on DVD. According to Leonard Maltin's Movie Book, it's on VHS. Also, it's being broadcast on Fox Movie Channel today and tomorrow. Today, at noon (EDT). And then at 2 a.m. (EDT) on the 25th (makes it tonight). It's not broadcast next month. I haven't seen the movie, but Maltin's book puts it this way: "spectacular sequences of hang-gliding...." Hope this is of some help.

Cave Dwellers has some pretty silly looking hang-gliding scenes. It is in Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 2.
(Aka "Ator, the Invincible" or "Ator, the Blade Master")
