Definitely get Untitled, if just for the commentary with Cameron Crowe and his mom. Really gets into details about the real-life events that became the movie.

Side question. If memory serves, it was The Who that Cameron was on the plane with when they thought they were going to die. Which member of The Who admitted to being gay??

If you're like me and you bought the bare-bones edition before "Untitled: The Bootleg Cut" was released, you'll probably want to hold onto your old one anyways. There's some stuff on the old disc that didn't make it onto the new one like an HBO special, a music video and a different trailer. A new customer would undoubtedly be satisfied by the later release since it's the superior of the two releases but I couldn't get rid of the earlier DVD because of the exclusive content.

another vote for the Bootleg Cut. the Untitled version is worth it by itself.

If they had released the Untitled Version of Almost Famous to theatres instead of making it into the very good Theatrical Version, Kate Hudson would have an Oscar right now.

Buy Untitled. It is an excellent SE of an excellent movie.

The theatrical editon of Almost Famous is very good on its own right, and one of my favorite films of all time. But Untitled takes the movie a step up and the commentary is a very good listen, so I'd go with Untitled.

I'm going to be the lone dissenting voice here and say that I preferred the theatrical version to the uncut one. I thought the "Untitled" cut let some scenes play too long. The Hoffman scene on the street in San Diego ("I can't just stand here all day talking to my many fans") had a superior cut (going to to the coffee shop scene shortly after that line) in the theatrical version, I thought. That's just one example. On the other hand, I may like the theatrical version better because that's the one I saw first -- in the theater.

Nevertheless, I still recommend the "Untitled" version of the DVD. Given that it has both versions of the movie, you can watch them both and decide for yourself which is the superior cut. Plus you get the "Stairway to Heaven" scene (which I wish had been in the movie).

No contest...get the "untitled" 3 disc set - it's my favorite out of 260 titles in my collection.

The Untitled Bootleg edition is a must buy. My personal favorite DVD in my collection, since the extra footage really makes a difference. If you liked the regular version of the movie, you will love the Untitled.

I feel that the Untitled version is vastly superior to the theatrical version. In this case, more is MORE! And the commentary on the Untitled version is one of the best of all-time (Cameron Crowe and his mother). Also, if you don't like the Untitled version, it still comes with the theatrical version. The extras are sparse (compared to today's standards) but there are a few gems in there like the deleted Stairway To Heaven scene.

Unless you didn't like the director's cut, I don't see how anyone can buy the movie-only version.
