"Nunsploitation" dvds?

this dvd along with Flavia The Heretic and Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun are a few of my essential nunsploitation dvds. I'm also trying to track down a copy of the very rare Die Nonne von Verona and Wet and Rope.

I'm really wanting to build up this genre in my collection. any favs for you guys that you would suggest? any news on upcoming releases featuring these good/bad girls? honestly, this genre really gets my blood pumping.

Gotta love the nunsploitation genre in theory. However, The Other Hell looked interesting until I read the DVDTalk review:

Review

Is it really this bad?

remember...it's true that Bruno Mattei made films that to most people...were garbage. Hell of the Living Dead or Rats: Nights of Terror ring any bells? awful films that were so charming in thier own way that you had to love 'em. Ed Wood fans will relate.

as for this film, dont know what to tell ya. I like it and it fits my collection like a glove. I never let a reveiw influence me. what most people hate...I like. not for everyones taste, and like another poster here....didnt even know of such a genre. anyone starting out should choose the Flavia... release.

Haha... Flavia, rated G - that's a good one.

I loved Hell of the Living Dead, and want to see Rats now. They aren't all that, but I think the Ed Wood reference is spot on. Either you go with it and don't give a damn about the technical inneficiancies, or you just can't get past it. No biggie.

As for the nunsploitation, I only have The Sinful Nuns of St. Valentine from Redemption. It's okay, a well filmed old school production, but not really all that shocking. I wish I knew the name of this one movie an old roomate found one time at a flea market on vhs that was da bomb. It was truly impressive, with major nun-on-nun action bordering on hardcore XXX. The thing was that it was Italian and the production values were high. Think Franco Zefirelli doing porn.

I'm proud to be a very forgiving film fan. it keeps my mind open.

thats pretty obvious since I like The Other Hell, faults and all. of course it helps that I'm a supporter of Bruno M.

You know, when the cover of The Other Hell suddenly loaded, it gave me a bit of a jump reminiscent of the "can you see the ghost in this room" joke...

Also, does Bruno Mattei deserve a collection? Isn't this the guy who tried to pass off his own crap sci-fi film as the sequel to The Terminator?

But 'Nunsploitation'? Well, it's got my attention.

I'm hoping to get Flavia this week(at least the shipping date that DeepDiscount DVD gives me is 6/16. We'll see.).

I know it's off topic but has anyone read ANTICRISTO: The Bible of Nasty Nun Sinema & Culture
by Steve Fentone?

Sounds interesting.

Does The Devils fall in the nunsplotation category?

Now that's one movie I'd love to see on DVD.

Especially with the documentary that was shown on Ch 4 over in the UK. Uncut, of course.

I'm not sure if it qualifies as nunsploitation, but I did find desecration to be original, and I also enjoyed dead waters in a strange way.

Image has Sinful Nuns of St. Valentine as part of its Redemption collection:

It's okay, but not quite in the same league as "Flavia"

Also, HKFlix has some of the ones you mentioned:

I never have heard of The Convent before but I am definitely going to check it out. As for the rest of the nunsploitation we'll just have to see.

how 'bout any film which exploits nuns. the good and bad sides are either brought or forced out...usually forced....into a sometimes vengful situation. nuns usually dont just do a complete about face in faith and with mental stability. when they do...take cover. or it could be just a poor nun who is tortured, sexually mis-treated and punished within the faith....and will not have the power to do anything about it. either way...she is exploited in one way or another.....and put in the publics eye.

the nunsploitation genre was near it's peak in the late '70's, for the most part in Europe and later in Japan. they took a look at a nuns filthy habits and blasphemous ways. it became the alternative to the "school girl" and "french maid" fantasies. the "women in prison" genre was along the same lines. give me a nasty nun in prison...while wearing a maids outfit...anyday. it's classic fetish....but as you see...not for everyone. and NO, this is not porn. nothing worse than your typical lesbian vampire film.

these are just my thoughts. someone else will have a different opinion.

one thing though....it helps I guess that for 2 years I bounced at a strip club in SF. I was seeing a stripper there who had been a nun just 3 years prior. nothing beats a frustrated ex-nun.

Fellow Virgins,
there's a book about it! Looks as if it's still available.
