What qualifies as a "Marathon"? Non-stop viewing or viewing on and off over a period until you're finished?
For non-stop viewing it's probably The Godfather Trilogy for me, but for viewing on and off over a period of days, I watched Buffy Season Four over the course of three days a couple weeks ago...

I may have watched 3 dvds in one sitting once. I know I’ve done 2.
However, I recently spent eight days dog-sitting/house-sitting at someone's house while they were on vacation and I was between jobs. They didn't have the internet, and a satalite system that didn't have the major networks so I had nothing to do that week except watch DVDs (and let the dogs out when they needed).
I averaged 4-5 DVDs a day- not continuously- for a grand total of 34 DVDs in 8 days. I'd watch one in the morning, one or two in the afternoon, two at night. But I took lots of breaks and made it a point to get out of the house for at least 3-4 hours each day.
I made it through the entire first seasons of Six Feet Under and Babylon 5. Also I had a somewhat unintended Catherine Keener marathon with Your Friends and Neighbors, Lovely & Amazing, Full Frontal and Living in Oblivion (again, not quite continuous). Also watched An Evening with Kevin Smith (both discs), The Woman In Red, Blind Date, Mildred Pierce, A Patch of Blue, Audition, Best of Insomniac Vol. 1, Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music, Sweet Home Alabama, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and about eight more I can't recall now. Basically, I watched anything I had recently gotten, or had owned for a while but hadn't watched yet.

When I was a kid, in the '70s, my brother and I went to a 'Planet of the Apes' marathon. I know I could never do that again even in the comfort of my own home.

It was before DVD, I bought the Anniversary VHS box set of the Rocky series and I watched them all back to back. That was a good day
I don't have the time anymore for fat sessions like that, hense no good DVD marathons to mention

I once watched 7 Samurai twice in a row w/o and with commentary. That's over 7 hours straight, but what the hey, I was sick in bed. I also watched 5 movies in one day once, including Ghost World, X-Men, Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolfe, The Apartment and another I can't remember right now.

Wow. I envy you all. I can't just sit back and watch a lot of movie in one sitting, since usually I will broke my concentration after a couple of hours. Hell, even I have to watch the second part of The Godfather Part II the day after I saw the first part when I saw the movie the first time. And it happens to a lot of movie that comes with an intermission.
Anyway, this Friday I watched Lonesome Dove in one sitting and I quite enjoyed it. That was the longest screening I've been through, and I doubt I will make it again next time.

I too have done a 24 Season 1 marathon. 18 hours of my life I don't regret using to watch a televison series.
Most hardcore thing I've ever done though was watch Fushigi Yugi Seasons 1 and 2, and the first OVA boxset. All in all, it was a good 29 hour marathon.

Currently this summer i'm going through all of my movie DVD's and watching them in alphabetical order. My goal is to finish them all by the time school starts which is about a month away. I just finished watching Monty Python & The Holy Grail, so I have a ways to go.

I watched all the Twin Peaks episodes in two days. (on vhs though)
My husband was overseas and my parents had taken my kids to Disneyland for the weekend, so I had nothing to do.
The longest straight thru watch I did was Buffy season 2. It was rough, but my sister in law and I did it with only breaks to go make food.
My husband had taken my kids to go visit his other sister for a couple of days (she doesn't like me so I didn't go) so, again, I had nothing to do.

One time I watched all the Indy movies and all the Star Wars movies (up to Ep. I, pre-DVD release) and all the Alien movies in 2 days. I think I tacked in all the Kevin Smimth movies (through Dogma at the time) the next day.
I have wanted to do a 24 marathon, but haven't yet. I also can't wait for Ep III on DVD, (Ep IV-VI would be nice but I can handle VHS) to do a Star Wars marathon. That and the LotR marathon when RotK comes to DVD.

Not sure. I've watched my SportsNight discs all the way through 3 times now, which is 45 half-hour episodes. I just set aside a day and watch them straight through; it's surprisingly easy.
Most hardcore marathon I did was a few years back (pre-DVD) when I watched all 79 episodes of Star Trek without sleep. That was a bit insane.
If I can ever get the free time, I think I'd like to try a Bond marathon: all the films back-to-back over a weekend. I need to find some chump to do it with me, though, as that could get incredibly boring in parts.

Little while back I killed a huge chunk of time watching X-MEN 1.5, the film, the film with commentary, then a ton of extras.
Other than that I did watch ARMY OF DARKNESS a few times in one day, comparing various versions and loving the commentary.
Years ago, I'd stay up all night and watch TREK marathons. Haven't seen one of those in awhile.
