Will there ever be a "Reign Of Fire" director's cut?
So the DVD was released and though it had great audio and a good (though not reference) video transfer, the extras were really poor. But aside from that, what bugged me was scenes in the trailers and magazines and TV ads that never so much as appeared as a deleted scene. There were also rumours of 30 minutes or so being cut at the last minute and a darker ending being traded for the more upbeat ending we saw in the finished film. But after all the rumours that all this stuff would show up in the DVD either as deleted scenes or reintegrated into the film in the form of a director's cut, nothing happened. What gives?

I just want everybody to die and the Dragons then rule the earth and beyond. the perfect ending. yeah, I'd like to see a longer version with more to it. I still liked the film....but I still want more people to get killed via the flame.

Sorry no information for you but just wanted to say I watched this again last night and found it a better watch the second time around. Good usage of the surrounds but would have liked more flame and such myself.

Staggers me that a film containing dragons worked so badly. The idea of an unedited version sounds like "Stargate" problems. Good idea but badly botched in the script. Would not play better longer.

But lack of mass popularity never stopped Reindeer Games from being re-released as a director's cut, tacomantt. Why can't the same happen for Reign Of Fire?

But Reign of Fire did much worse.
Reign of Fire cost $95 million to make, but only brought in $42.9 M Dometically (not much more world wide).
Reindeer Games had a budget of $36M and made 23M (not much more world wide).
Of course these are prior to DVD sales, and merchandising. I can imagine that Reindeer Games probably broke even if all revenue was taken into consideration, but certainly not Reign of Fire (It would have to make up about $50M).
