What genre(s) are lacking in your DVD collection?
I would like to see more sports on DVD(NFL Films are you listening). They came out with a DVD a few weeks ago but haven't heard a thing about .60's animation also needs a boast to my collection(good to see Rocky and Bullwinkle coming soon).Getting back to sports I would like to see the NBA,MLB and the NHL go back to the archives and produce older highlight DVD's of previous seasons or championship highlights or team highlight films(like NFL Films does so wonderfully well).

I don't own any sports DVD's nor what can be termed 'adult' titles...not that i condemn anybody who does have them in their collection only i can't really see 'Debbie Does Dallas' or wherever in the US sitting comfortably on my shelf next to 'Decalogue'

Due to their unavailability, I'm sorely lacking in 1930s action/adventure/swashbucklers. Waiting for releases of:
King Kong
Gunga Din
Adventures of Robin Hood
Captain Blood
The Sea Hawk
Prisoner of Zenda
Beau Geste
Lives of a Bengal Lancer
Mark of Zorro

I got mine at Circuit City for $34.99. It's a bit expensive for the amount of video on three disks. But the footage is really priceless. It chronicles how NFL Films began, and AFL-NFL merger and a lot of forgotten heroes during the 60's and early 70's. The best NFL DVD there is out there.
Now as for the genres in my collection, I'm really surprised how balanced it is. According to Guzzlefish, this is how my collection breaks down:
1. Science-Fiction/Fantasy - 18% (tie)
Dramas - 18%
Action/Adventure - 18%
2. Comedies - 16%
3. Musical and Performing Arts - 8%
4. Foreign Films - 6%
5. Horror/Suspense - 4%

Hello everyone - my first post here (i'm from the UK).
What's missing from my R1 collection is mainly vintage US sitcoms and sci-fi - would love to see season 1 of LUCY SHOW; VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (hopefully, as s1 of LOST IN SPACE is due in January), BATMAN (120 episodes), THE MUNSTERS, NIGHT GALLERY (following the excellent TWILIGHT ZONE volumes), and things like BURNS + ALLEN, JACK BENNY SHOWS - those which aren't in public domain release.

I am lacking in the romantic comedy area...college age male with no girlfriend=no romance movies, and a lot of action/sci-fi movies. I get to spend money on things I like for once.

I don't have any sports, porn, pure action, or "chic flix" titles
mostly because I have no desire to spend money on these genre's for the most part, I consider my collection to be lacking in almost every genre though, I only have about 30 DVD's

Currently lacking:
My taste in films is definitely outside the mainstream. Overall, I'm happy with my collection, and don't feel the need to remedy any of these "deficiencies" . . .
Current breakdown:
57% Drama
44% Classic (>30 years old, generally considered a classic film)
36% Foreign-language
22% Comedy
20% Suspense/Thriller
8% Romance
- Action films
- Anime
- Recent American films (especially comedies)
- War films
- Adult films
- Sci-Fi

As you can see by my Guzzlefish stats...
Comedies 35%
Dramas 19%
Action/Adventure 14%
Science-Fiction/Fantasy 11%
Education/General Inte.. 5%
Horror/Suspense 5%
Childrens 5%
I'm a little overloaded in the comedy section. I'm gonna work towards more classic movies, especially Hitchcock and Billy Wilder stuff. Also mean to get more decent suspense movies (still looking for Silence of The Lambs Criterion at a decent price).

6 Musical & Performing Arts - 45
7 Foreign Films - 31
8 Childrens - 18
9 Education/General Interest - 7

looks like I was right in the other thread when I said sports. BTW, the one sports title that they count is Blue Crush. I guess Bull Durham, The Cutting Edge and Bring It On don't count as sport films.
