Midnight Madness!! The Next "Good Burger".

The year is 1980, and the great Leon creates........The Great All Nighter. It stars Michael J. Fox as well as some other familiar faces. Definately a B movie that has long since been forgotten but very unrated. Look it up and tell me what you think.

FAGABEEFE!

I'd totally buy this if a halfway decent DVD were put out. The Anchor Bay disc looks like crap that's been run over by car tires and scraped off.

I knew there was someone out there that agreed with me. Let's start a campaign.

"High School U.S.A."

Seeing this thread made me think of a television movie with Michael J. Fox that I saw when I was a child. The movie is called "High School U.S.A." (1984). Anyone else ever see this movie? I know it is slightly off topic...but it is a very small movie (albeit a television movie) starring Michael J. Fox. Anyway, seeing this thread brought back memories of viewing this movie on television.

Here is some info from imdb.com:

"Set in a senior high school class, J.J. (Michael J. Fox) pursues the girlfriend of a rival from a higher clique which culminates in a race at the end of the movie between the two rivals in this light comedy."

Michael J. Fox .... Jay-Jay Manners (as Michael Fox)
Nancy McKeon .... Beth Franklin
Todd Bridges .... Otto Lipton
Bob Denver .... Milton Feld
Dana Plato .... Cara Ames

This low budget turd should definately be polished! I remember Bob Denver in a bad toupee(redunancy) and perhaps Crispin Glover and Mike Zorkek, the Fat guy from Private School scheming to take his car. But it was supposed to be this bad ass, blow away ride, and it was like an 80 gold T-bird that looked like ass. But Denver was the single dad with a midlife crisis suppossedly baggin the babes in this.

If memory serves, Anthony Edwards continued his dramatic war against type casting here, starring as the super jock I believe, and he'd go on to play Gilbert in the Revenge of the Nerds soon after. And I check the IMDB, apparently, the Leave it To Beaver kids(Ken Osmond, Tony Dow, Jerry Mathers) are in it too, and I do vaguely remember their prescence.

I do hope I"m not mixing anything up with the unoffical sequel, "Poison Ivy", with the Fox/McKeon love connection as well. How about 2 movies for the price of one? I could watch that with Teen Wolf 1/2 and really have a great weekend!

I would pick it up if they would re-release a OAR version.

Michael J. Fox is the king of high school movies. Even though Midnight Madness is a college flick, he plays the high school kid. And he's sooo cool.

When Anchor Bay was releasing this on DVD, I remember on one of the newsgroups someone posted that they contacted the director who contacted Anchor Bay about doing an audio commentary, but Anchor Bay wasn't interested. I guess they were just releasing this for Disney and weren't authorized to do anything special like that for it.

Now that MGM is releasing a lot of those old Disney titles that Anchor Bay first put out, maybe there is a chance of a new release for it.

Fun film.

I've seen High School USA in the $5.88 bin at Wal Mart. As far as Midnight Madness , I remember Eddie Deezen being in it , and Michael J. Fox's retainer helping to save the day.

I think you are getting ABC pictures mixed up with Disney. As for Anchor Bay refusing an audio commentary, that sounds odd, for werent they the pioneers in bon us material and commentarys on lesser known films on DVD?

Read it again. Anchor Bay didn't "refuse" the commentary. They weren't at liberty to add stuff to the licensed Disney material (other than stuff that was OKed by Disney).

In the early days of DVD (much as today), Anchor Bay was seeking out films with a cult status, but that were being virtually ignored by the studios that owned them. They struck up a deal with Disney to release a bunch of titles like this (The Black Hole, Condorman, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Return to Oz, Watcher in the Woods, etc.) But, the deal did not allow them to arbitrarily add supplements as they wished...

And, as has been pointed out, at this point in time ABC Pictures and Disney are one and the same.

Isn't MGM also releasing some of the Disney titles? I heard WATCHER IN THE WOODS was one of the titles being redone. That, like MADNESS, was a Disney release.

Although Disney didn't have their name on MADNESS.

Back on topic, i bought it when it was released. I love those cheesey flicks of the day. Specially when it has LA as the backdrop. Many sights in those films no longer exists. Great flick.

How bad is the transfer of Midnight Madness? I remember watching this movie all the time on HBO!! I love it but, I must ask myself, can I look past a horrible transfer?
