Which Criterion to buy?

Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas
Straw Dogs
Traffic
Throne Of Blood

Which ONE would you buy if you didn't own any of them?

Fear and Loathing, because I love the movie and the set is PACKED...not to mention the cool packaging. Which I just mentioned.

I don't have Throne of Blood but I plan to get it soon. I also have Traffic, but rarely watch it. For some reason the movie didn't stick with me as much as I originally felt it would. Oh well.

i'd go with fear&loathing (i have the original and plan on getting CC sometime in the far future), or you could always get straw dogs (which is going out of print soon?).

I don't even much like the movie of Fear and Loathing, and I'd still choose it because I think overall, the extras are just what I'd ask for (and normally, I don't even really care about extras).

My second choice would be Throne of Blood, because that's the one I most want (just waiting for DVD Planet to hurry up and ship it!)

Dang... tough choice to pick one.

I don't have Throne of Blood yet...

Either Fear and Loathing or Traffic for the great content... but Straw Dogs will be OOP within a year.

eenie meenie mynie... moes
Fear and Loathing, my money goes

Throne of Blood is the best movie of the four you listed. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is probably the best DVD.

Damn, they're all good. Throne of Blood is arguably the best movie of the bunch, but featurewise it "only" contains a commentary and trailer (great commentary, though.)

Traffic, Straw Dogs, and Fear And Loathing are loaded 2-disc sets, with tons of supplemental material. It all boils down to what types of movies you enjoy. Traffic is fairly "mainstream" material (a really good movie nonetheless). Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is definitely not for everyone; random, chaotic, jumbled, brilliant, and pointless, all at once. Straw Dogs is a great film, but definitely geared towards older movie sensibilities.

So my advice? Multi Angle Porn.

I would buy Traffic. It's a fantastic movie and loaded with great features.

It really depends, it sounds like you are just getting them just b/c they are Criterion, rather than b/c of what type of movie you like. Get the one that is closest to the kind of movie you would like. Seems pretty simple.

If it was me, I'd go with Fear & Loathing, b.c I'm a huge Depp fan & it's IMO one of the single best DVDs ever released.

I only own Throne of Blood, out of the ones you list. I highly recommend it though.

tough choice

If I could only buy one of the four titles you listed, it would wind up being a tie between "Straw Dogs" and "Throne of Blood." However, it really depends on your cinematic tastes as to which one title you should buy. I wish you the best of luck in making your final decision. No matter which title you pick, all four are produced wonderfully on dvd by Criterion.

I'd guess you can't go wrong with any of those, though I haven't seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I'd probably get Throne of Blood.

As your attorney I advise you to pick up Fear and Loathing CC.

Its the best dvd I own and its going to take a damn good disc to top it. It may not have as many extras as say LOTR:EE or be as extensive as LOTR but whats there is pure gold. Hunter S. Thompson does a commentary! That alone is worth the price of the dvd.

Straw Dogs is the only one I don't own so I'd go with Fear and Loathing if you like extras but Throne of Blood is the better movie.

I'd have to agree with those saying Throne of Blood is the best film out those.

Get Fear and Loathing if you're a film hipster.
