Stupid T2:E Case!!!!
I just got the new Extreme edition and the metal case sucks! or at least the one I got does. The case held the box too tight and when I took it out it ripped the plastic and cover. I am heading back to get another one in exchange for this one... beware of bad metal cases when getting your T2 eXtreme edition.
|
This looks like it's going to be a big problem. Many people are reporting that there cover is being ripped as well.
|
yes, beware....i found one earlier during the weekend that actually had rust on the metal case (i didn't spot it because the price club version had it enclosed in a cardboard longbox).
|
I think Artisan is working on a T2 Suicide Edition for next year. The sleeve will be welded to the case and lined with razor blades.
Here's a great quote from an HTF member: "Listen! And understand! That Terminator Extreme case is coming. It can't be pried off! It can't be bent! It doesn't react to damage, or threats, or violence. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until the case is damaged!" |

Yeah, mine looks looks like an eventual problem. I like my Metal UE case best
|
I wonder why they can’t just make it a tin case like the Disney treasures or something.
|
Has anyone actually got a tin that didnt screw up the inner case? Im trying to decide if it will do me any good to exchange it for another.
|
Looks like I'll definitely stick with my 2-disc UE :)
|
my EE metal slip did tear part of the plastic cover of the inner case... just slightly though...and I am never putting the dvd back into that TIN.. it took about 3 minutes to get the damn thing out, it was packed TIGHTER than hell... A really crappy design really... I'll just put this cool looking slip case on the shelf by itself and keep the inner keep case seperate, to avoid further damage... I don't think this can really be avoided....looking at the way they made the inner folds of the tin, I think most people are going to get some tears :(
MATT |
I looked through the ones at Target and tried to find one that didn't look bent or anything. Even though I had read all the post I tried to carefully remove it, and still ended up ripping the plastic on the dvdcase. :(<BR>
<B>Worst case ever.</B> |
I spent about 10 minutes going through the ones at my local Best Buy to try and find an unbent, unscratched, unwarped and undamaged one.
I found what I thought was the best one, now to try and get it open. Maybe I will try some silicone spray. |
Note to Artisan:
Your first metal case didn't fit the DVD properly and would slip off completely if held in any normal fashion. Your second metal case fits so tight that some people are considering silicone spray to remove the DVD. Fire your tin case designer. BTW, that HTF quote is definitely the Quote Of The Week. rotfl |
It is definitely a stupidly designed metal case.
However, I have found that if you squeeze the metal case in the front and back the plastic dvd case will go in better. But, that was after I stratched the plastic a little bit the first time. |
I wonder how many people will be trying to return/exhange their damaged cases/cover art. I'm sure there will be many arguments with the retail Store Managers.
Maybe Artisan will get the message when they get a large quantity of defective returns from all the retail chains. |
Maybe try heating it a little in the oven with a little butter?
Throw on some sour cream and chives and you've got yourself an extreme side dish. |
Does anyone have an address or email for Artisan so those uf us who have a really screwed up one can try to get a replacement inner case and cover art. Dosnt sound like it will do any good to exchange them at the store.
|
It took me a good 2 or 3 minutes to get it off the dvd case so it wouldn't tear the plastic off. It did tear a little bit, but that's ok. Cool idea, but didn't work that well.
|
I had no problem with this at all...of course I read this thread before going out and buying this DVD today.
Just push the left and right sides tight and the DVD will slowly slide out. No scratches or anything for me. I will admit, this tin case looks cool but is shaped terrible. Absolutely terrible. |
I'll wait for the inevitable Artisan price drop and now (most likely) an inevitable repackaging. I got my UE to watch for now and it's not like I watch it more than once a year (if that). I would like this one, though, for the commentary.

haha, i thought i was the only one having trouble with this thing. When i took it out, it left an inch-long gash in the plastic covering the case binding. geez, i thought my artisan rambo trilogy was the worst case ever, but this takes the grand prize. back to bestbuy i go...
|
Mine didn't rip, but the top "nail" that holds the case together broke. Ugh.
|
I went through all the T2 DVDs at Best Buy and every case was dented or scratched. :(
I will try Target later tonight. |
I bought my copy at Best Buy today. Removed the tin with no problem. None of the plastic on the case was ripped or anything. Guess I was lucky.
|
Okay, got a GOOD case finally. The only issue I found was that all the nice looking non bent ones were the trouble. The slightly bent one I got works like a champ! It goes in and out with no problems. But I wont be putting it back in, the tin will sit in a box in the closet with the previous UE tin. Target had no problems taking it back... so give it a try if anyone gets a bum case.

Perhaps Target or some stores should put a "free can of WD40 with purchase" sticker on the T2:EE like they did the free Coke to the Die Another Day.
Just point the WD40 in between the tin sleeve and the case and empty the can! The sucker should slip out. |
Ditto - Ditto...ripped the plastic on my case, too. At least Artisan is being cool about it...they're sending me a new case and apologized about the whole deal.
The metal case is great for making fresh salsa, though...I told 'em not to let Ginsu make their cases any more! |

Didn't rip the plastic, but after the trouble I've had have decided not to put the case back in the slip case. It would have been a really cool design if they'd gotten it right. Good thing, the dvd looks AWESOME!!!
|
man, these guys are idiots. this is a cool looking sleeve....but one of the worst when it comes to causing damage. there are so many sharp edges and points on my sleeve, that I've already been pricked on the finger once. got the case out just fine...but returning it to the sleeve and removing it over and over is insane. they couldnt have made it just a bit wider, huh?
I have now filed down the sharp points and did my best to stretch it out a bit. I may just display the sleeve and file the dvd and it's case with the other versions. |
Anyone Got the Jaws of Life??
Ok heres mine, it got halfway out after about 2-3 minutes only after is ripped the first half of the plactic off the side, so being the impatient person i am i broke the two nails off and now it goes in and out no problem hehe, oh well just have to put that side down on the dvd rack no one will know. I love shelling out 19.99 for my third version of T2 and then having to break it out of the case to watch it, oh yeah sweeeeeeeet. at least im not the only one.
|
now, die another day, thats the way to package a disc.

Mine got a small rip in it when I took it out too.

Ripped the spine while trying to take it out. I'm never putting it back in the tin. But great discs. Great documentary on how T2 shaped CGI in movies (and there is quite a bit that's focused on LOTR with scenes from the Two Towers and an interview with Peter Jackson).
