What is the longest DVD intro you've ever seen
 

Anyone? I'm curious as to how long a DVD menu intro can get.

For me, I think its my Shadow of the Eagle (early John Wayne serial) DVD from Marengo Films. I think the intro for Marengo products is like a minute, minute and a 1/2; and I had to sit through it every time I played the disc.

U2: The Best Of 1990-2000 is quite annoying.

A lot of VCI discs have insanely long intros with lots of lame menu animations and long "special thanks to..." screens. Media Blasters/Shriek Show are also guilty of this, with their annoyingly long logo animations and advertising tie-ins. Neither company allows you to bypass these irritating intros.

The worst are on their westerns. Not only do you get long amateurish animations, but every time you click on a menu option there's an animated gun that shoots you in the face! Gee, thanks VCI.

I don't know about longest, but any TV show boxset with a long intro is very annoying to me. With a movie I get stuck watching the intro once, then I watch the movie and forget about it.

But with TV shows I usually only can watch one or two episodes at a time, so everytime I want to watch the next episode, I'm stuck watching the same intro again... and again... and again. After watching 6 DVDs of my favorite show, each one taking 2-4 sittings to finish, I've watched the damn intro so much I'm sick of it. Plus there's those damn FBI warning screens and such they have to show everytime the disc gets put in- yes, I know not to copy it, I saw the same warning on the first five discs!

Disney has a problem on some of their newer discs that after you puch the "menu" button on the remote you get this long intro before it gets there. Fortunately they have made the newer one's with the ability to hit the chapter button and get right to the menu. Very annoying though.

The regular version of X-Men, you can't even skip it.

Longest one in my collection would be so far Catch me if you can

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, there are 11 chapters of trailers to get to the main movie, I keep hitting the forward button till I see the main menu, what a waste of time for the dim wit that watches them all.:(

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has a pretty time-consuming intro. Not all that fascinating either, and you can't skip it of course.

Also, non-skippable FBI warnings are annoying. Paramount's are especially bad, because you get them in English then again in French.

I just want the movie. Spare me the incedental crap :)

Danol, you could have just hit the menu button and skipped those trailers.

Back to DVD intros... the VCI discs have awfully long intros, yes, but it's worse on my region two TV sets. Evertime I want to watch an episode I have to get through an awfully long opening thing.

Austin Powers 2. You have to watch him as he points everything out... um, yeah. That's groovy... :rolleyes:

NOW, an intro I don't mind? My Hong Kong Infernal Affairs. It comes with a non-skippable ad for some sord of portable music player, but it's fun to watch, so...

Some DVD players, Panasonic for example, have a "Position Memory" feature that allows you to record where you left off on a disc. When you start it up again it goes right to where you marked the postion. That helps for repeat viewings of the same disc but not the intro for multiple discs.

Some discs will allow the FBI warning stuff to be fast forwarded through; I get annoyed by those that do not.

For TV DVDs, my pet peeve is those that don't put a chapter stop at the end of the title sequence so that it can be skipped. (How hard is that DVD designers?)

A few, very few, DVDs (like Star Wars) allow you to access various menus and programs using number keys, thus skipping the menu sequence entirely (once you figure out which number you want). For the Star Wars DVDs even the blooper Easter Egg can be directly accessed by number. Very nice feature.

for me i would say oceans 11 (watched this last night and i noticed how long it seemed) but again, i havent seen many of the dvds on this list so this might be relatively short.

25th Hour had a really long intro.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is just ridiculous. It's actually incredibly annoying...

Longest intro that can't be skipped..."Cheers" Season 1 DVD. Although I assume it's the same for any of Paramount's latest DVDs. A 30-second unskippable studio logo and then two un-skippable FBI screens. It's damn near a minute. M*****f*****s!

Not sure how long specifically, but the one for Requiem for a Dream is kind of lengthy. But a good intro it is!
