Any random VCI or Media Blasters disc has that beat. They all pretty much average around a minute and half of crap that can't be skipped over, and some close in on two minutes of pointless menu animation, FBI screens, "special thanks" screens and other nonsense.

All of the Media Blasters/Shriek Show discs that I own have skippable intros. It takes me no time at all to get the menus.

Exactly what I was thinking (at least it felt long), but I still don't think it is the longest I have.

RED DRAGON seemed long to me. Both the intro and the film.

The most annoying I have is the R2 CROUPIER. Couldn't skip by their copyright or the Film 4 junk. Menu button didnt work either. Just bumps you back to the beginning. Royal pain.

 -biggrin-

(A few years ago they showed Lawrence at IMAX Navy Pier in Chicago. I went, and started counting the number of people who turned around to look toward the projection booth during the overture. I gave up counting, there were so many confused people. I even saw several people get up and leave, presumably to tell someone that there was no picture...)

Now isn't there a text notice before the overture on the DVD that says there is no picture at the start? Or am I thinking of a different movie/DVD?

How about almost every Paramount DVD? I really need to be forced to read that its illegal to copy the DVD in 3 different languages.

Simpsons Season 2 and SchoolHouse Rock are long and annoying

Rammsteinfan 06-02-03 10:05 AM

I popped in Stir of Echos the other night and it was pretty long. I forgot they show you the whole movie in the menu!

Requiem of a Dream. Cool the first couple of times you see it. Annoying thereafter.

Just hit the menu button. I got 2 trailers for Spirited away and I just hit that menu button, and then go to menu.,

2001 a space oddesy comes to mind. A ten min black screen.

NickAdonidus 06-02-03 12:48 PM

I was thinking Fight Club has a rather long intro... the first time it is cool... but after that it is just irratating....

MattSVT 06-02-03 01:19 PM

I HATE the intro to Simpsons Season 2. It is worthless. I hope that isn't what took 4-5 extra months to complete ;)

Yes, but is there a text screen first, telling people that there is nothing wrong with their DVD, the first ten minutes are sound only?

BananaMan 06-02-03 04:12 PM

Thats the overture for 2001. Star Trek the motion Picture has a 3 minute music only overture as well when it starts.

slop101 06-02-03 04:40 PM

On the other side of things, there's the new Led Zeppelin dvd that has absolutely no intro whatsoever.

You put in the disc and the concert starts - no FBI warning, no studio logo, not even a menu - just the feature, right away.

5-4-3-2-1

Thunderbirds

My son watches these so often that intro is starting to get on my nerves!
