does Robin Hood Prince of Thieves SE have DTS?

IGN DVD has pictures of the front and back covers posted on their site. The DTS logo is clearly present on the bottom of the back cover. English DTS is also listed in the language menu.

I'm not sure if you're really asking the question or relaying the news cuz your thread title and post pretty much cancel each other out.

I was hoping it would have DTS since it's a Morgan Creek title. I figured since the True Romance: SE (another Morgan Creek title) had a DTS track, that Robin Hood might also. I looked at few sites and everything just mentioined the Dolby Digital track.

Will the inclusion of the DTS track cause the video to suffer? I mean the movie is 155 mins. and includes DTS, DD, and two commentary tracks. Thats a lot for one disk unless its DVD-18.

As long as it's better than the present release...

Good news on the DTS.... but does it mean we will hear Costner's bad accent even better now?

Didn't Warner say during their last chat (maybe 2 mos ago) that they would never include DTS on a disc ever?

The "Weapons of the Time" interactive gallery should be very interesting. I'm so excited about this disc. When is it release again, the 10th?

No, Warner Brothers has used DTS before, and will keep using it as far as I know, they are just "picky" with what titles they give the DTS treatmeant.

No, Warner Bros. did say that they don't have any plans to include a DTS track on their dvds. WB did have a few DTS titles early on, but they have made it pretty clear that there won't be any more dvds with DTS. Robin Hood and True Romance are exceptions to this because they are actually Morgan Creek titles not Warner Bros. titles. WB just distributes them.

American Outlaws also had a DTS track, but I believe that may have been from Morgan Creek as well. Those early WB full-bitrate DTS discs were nice.

Will the inclusion of the DTS track cause the video to suffer?
Well, it certainly didn't help. The film element used for the transfer obviously has quite a lot of grain, and that in itself is a difficult job for MPEG compression. The movie runs 155 minutes, there are full motion menus, and two commentary tracks on the movie disc. All that adds up to a surprisingly mediocre disc. better than the first release? Sure, especially if one has a 16:9 monitor, but that really isn't saying much. The transfer is soft looking and lacks the crispness of even the average new DVD transfer.

Is the DTS track responsible for this? Not by itself of course, but those bits would very obviously have been better spent on a difficult transfer to compress.

It's a damn shame that marketing hacks have the power to make these sorts of decisions.
