DVD Talk Gold Edition
In order to get a good bit-rate for a decent transfer AND a decent DTS - the movie would have to be split up into two discs for the movie alone.
On any rate, I am going to wait it out since BHD is surely to become a Superbit in 6 mos. or so.

Is there really that big of a diffrence. Its kinda odd that people wont buy a great dvd despite the video quality and 2 discs of extras just because it doesnt have a dts track which from what Ive read is not really that diffrent from the DD track.

BTW : I love Ridley's commentary tracks and can't wait for this one. He and David Fincher put out the best DVDs on the market.

Here's another thing:
Why do we all of a sudden assume that the dts will be so much better than the dd?
I just got the Die Another Day dvd and while the dts is pretty kick-ass, the 5.1dd is just a little bit better. I would have preferred the (huge) space taken up by the dts to go to the (slightly dissapointing) video instead. While normally I prefer dts and I'm glad when it's there - but when there's little difference between the two surround channels, I would much rather have a better video bit-rate than dts - which is what they're obviously doing with BHD.
You think you know better than the people putting the disc together?

2 discs with DTS at the affordable price of 7800 yen.
Gotta start thinking of reasons to buy it to explain to my wife.

7800 yen, that is expensive. That is around 65USD or something like that??
