'Drunken Master' DVD question

I was wondering if anyone knows if Columbia ever fixed the flawed soundtrack problem on the 'Drunken Master' DVD? I believe if you watch the movie in Chinese, the English dub gets mixed in in certain scenes.

I think that the Cantonese track had some dialogue missing that couldn't be restored (not surprising considering Hong Kong's poor track record with film preservation). Since Columbia could not find the missing dialogue in any existing elements, they had no choice but to insert the English track at those points.

The R2 version by Hong Kong Legends doesn't have that problem.

That's because the HKL version used a Mandarin soundtrack instead of the Cantonese one.

We'll see if HKL manages to find a proper source material for the Cantonese track on their upcoming Platinum Series version of DM.

I wonder if it would have been better if it wouldn't have been better to voice-over those the missing dialogue using some Cantonese voice actors rather than replacing it with English. I just found it too distracting to watch whenever they switch over back and forth.

* The original soundtrack has been replaced with an English dub and new music.

* The very end where Jackie vomits into the camera was also cut.
