Roger Rabit - Vista "rating" question..

Hi...

Today, I bought it!...My 3rd Vista Serie DVD!

I just looked at the (a lot of them) features and I was quite anxious to watch it!...

but at the same time, I was wondering if it is a movie for a 6 years old boy, is there some material that is not for his eyes and ears???

because my GF asked me if we could watch it with her son on Friday night...

On the back, it says "rated R" ???

is there some coarse language and/or sexual imagery or suggestions (beside Jessica's lucious body) ?

thanks!

it says rated PG

And there's a scene where Baby Herman inserts two fingers in a woman

Any time you have a question on a movie rating for a popular flick, hop over to imdb.com where they will have the answer waiting.

My guess is that you're looking at the wrong package ... it's PG

I know the rating system is different in Canada, but in the U.S. "Roger Rabbit" is rated PG, not R. It has some fairly minor violence and yes, Jessica's sexiness. Some younger children may find the villain pretty scary.

Every child is different and what is and is not appropriate for your girlfriend's child is for her to decide. The best thing to do would be for one of you to watch the movie first and make the decision yourselves. I'm sure neither one of you will mind sitting through this movie twice.

And when the ratings are different here, they're almost universally lower. For example, Matrix Reloaded is 14A here, not R like in the States.

Frankly, I have no idea why it's R.

The movie is PG for some viloence (guns, cartoon and otherwise) and a few "hells" and "damns" and at least one "SOB". I bought for my son and now he can't watch it. The swearing was completely gratutitous, and IMHO the movie would have been just as good without it.

Yea, sorry I made a mistake in the topic, it is PG...

as for baybe Herman, is it the scene at the begining when he leaves the movie plateau? or is it later in the movie?

because, even at slowmotion on the scene at the begining of the film, you cannot really see the woman's ...

It’s at the beginning and obvoulsly you cannot see it since she’s wearing a skirt.

It’s people who think this way that are a major factor in driving studios to release butchered/censored DVDs

It's people who think this way who are the major factor in Hollywood releasing a steady stream of movies that contain gratuitous profanity.

The sexual innuendo in this movie is of the type that usually goes straight over a child's head. They won't really 'get' some of the jokes until they are older.

I think this movie is harmless for most children.

Define "gratuitous".

Not all movies need to be made for children.

Simple. Gratuitous profanity is any profanity that is a) added to achieve a desired "mature" rating, or b) added solely to appeal to audiences who perceive such language as "gritty", "adult", or "realistic".

Most films made for adults do not require profanity.

Gratuitous: Unnecessary or unwarranted; unjustified

Why is profanity considered to be for adults? Does the language add to the movie or did the writers just get too lazy to come up with something more intelligent to say?

Yeah! And why did it have to be about a detective solving a murder? I mean how old hat is that? Were the writers just too lazy to do something original? Why dredge up such ancient movie cliches? Didn't they have something more original to say in a movie about cartoon characters living in the real world?

Does the phrase "non sequitur" mean anything to you?

I don't consider this to be a movie for kids under 10. I don't think they'll get a lot of the jokes anyway.

More gratuitous EVERYTHING.... Language, sex, violence, guns, hookers, fire trucks, beer and everything else that makes life worth living!!!

Watch "Bachelor Party" if you don't get it.

Roger Rabbit isn't kiddie material... just like the original Looney Tunes, Disney, and Popeye cartoons.

Heck, there are Looney Tunes with even "worse" stuff than Roger Rabbit's innuendos and violence. There is actually a Looney Tune with a wolf appearing to get an orgasm.

I think the films ok for kids. Unless your so prudish, that the tiniest form of sexual inuendo which would go over there heads anyway offends yourself, that you shelter them from everything. Then you may not to want them to watch the film

I saw it plenty of times as a kid. Enjoyed it..& didn't get or notice the sexual inuendo. Then when i was alittle older(in my teens). I got the jokes & found it quite amusing.

I do find it funny that many people view sex/nudity as far worse than violence though. Remember the Swamp Thing fiasco?

Oh as for so called 'gratuicous' material. Bring it on!!!!

No i'm not talking about cussing every other word for cussing sake or so forth. Yet being real blunt,in your face..& honest with the material(sex/nudity/violence..whatever). Having fun with it & pissing people off in the process. I have a idea for a film that spoofs this very notion..& will have the prudes running for the exit before the credits even begin

Since life is to short to take everything so seriously..& trying to wussy every film down to kid-friendly is pathetic. Afterall adults need to have some fun to..rather than being stuck with tame by the numbers dull material!
