Best Tv-series options

Hi

I need your help.

I would like to buy some TV-series but I am from outside US and I have never seen one second only of the following:

- C.S.I
- The Shield
- 24
- Dark Angel
- Son of the beach

Please recomend the best 2 or 3 and rate all ( 1 up to 10 ).
They are all very expensive so I need the best options.

You can include other good tv series ( I have seen Sopranos and Twin Peaks recently ; both very good)

thanks in advance

Edgler

I don't have any of those sets but the ones I would recommend are the ones where I am a fan of the shows.

1. The Sheild - There has never been anything like it. This is as raw a cop show as you are ever likely to see with incredible performances all around.

2. C.S.I. - Great drama with really cool technical segments and sfx shots.

1 - The Shield (AWESOME show. Breaks all the rules. HIGH replay value)
2 - 24 (great show, cutting edge - buy it and eBay it once you realize it has little to no replay value after you know how everything turns out)
3 - Dark Angel (was good, but ended prematurely)
4 - C.S.I (others think this show's great, frankly I am tired of this type of television)
5 - Son of the beach (amusing when I catch it, but don't go out of my way to watch it)

I'd highly recommend -

OZ (great HBO series about life in prison)
Sex and the City
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel

Just imo, but I think 24 has a good replay value because 2nd and 3rd viewings might make you understand the ending better.

Problem is... they are all so different shows!

The Shield - gritty, tough cop show, totally unlike anything that's come before...

24 - incredible show, cutting edge (and if you're in R2 get that version.. )

Dark Angel - cyperpunk meets Mad Max (heh heh).. again cut too soon, and again, get the R2 version (widescreeen)

C.S.I. - good show, crime drama from a different angle but engrossing..

Son of the Beach - well, after 4 dramas you hit comedy.. low comedy but funny stuff nonetheless...

I'd say The Shield and 24. The Shield is just an amazing blend of drama and action and has to be seen to be appreciated. 24 is just a gripping show for the most part. It ties in well with the beginning and end of the second season.

Homocide Life On The Street
Six Feet Under
NYPD Blue

Sports Night = great show also, and you can get the entire series (2 seasons) in one boxed set.

My favorite of the ones you listed are 24 and CSI, but it is hard to compare shows that are so different from one another...

This would be my recommendation as well, if you don't have it yet. Get it now.

Some Good Comedies Are:

The Simpsons: Season 2
South Park: Season 1 or 2

--if you liked those two I'd also recomend:

Family Guy: Volume 1 (4-Disc)
Malcolm In The Middle: Season 1

I'm not a fan of any of the shows you've listed, mainly because I'm not into drama very much, or cop shows.

That said I'd recommend the following:
Red Dwarf - great British science fiction comedy
The Simpsons
Futurama - one of the most underrated cartoons. Fox made it die a horrible death.
Coupling - British comedy. Like "Friends" only funnier, raunchier, and better written.
Blackadder - historical documents. Really. Okay, only kidding. British comedy.
M*A*S*H - one of those "great" tv shows that everyone should see at least once.

If you like Sci Fi..

Babylon 5

One of the greatest, if not THE greatest, sci fi TV series ever. Currently on Season 2, but it's best to start with The Gathering, the pilot episode currently released. A word of caution, though. In The Beginning is bundled with The Gathering. If you want to see the story develop as it was broadcast, do not watch In The Beginning until after you've seen Season 4 (Season 3 at the earliest). But The Gathering is the pilot episode, and shows the events that affect characters even into season 5.
