"Unmasked" ran 30-45 minutes, if I remember correctly. That's a big difference from the 90 minutes, which the new doc supposedly runs...

Hold off before dumping your LEs on eBay. Anchor Bay changes release dates and disc content fairly often. Already (after just 24 hours) DVDFile is reporting that the 'branching' will not be on the disc. The set will just include the original version, with the extra scenes available as a supplement on disc 2.

Has Anchor Bay done "Seamless" branching before on any of their releases? If so, how successfully was it accomplished?
I'm definitely getting it anyway since I have been staring at this on Anchor Bay's website (In the future list) for over a year... but I was just a little bit concerned about the seamless branching.

Outstanding! Glad to see Criterion loosening its grip on some of its supplements. It's better for all film fans in the end.

Can't wait.

Here's the specs on the new anniversary edition from www.horrordvds.com:

"Anchor Bay Entertainment has announced all the details to their upcoming Halloween: 25th Anniversary Edition.

Halloween 25th Anniversary:
Feature Presentation (Disc One)

Widescreen Presentation enhanced for 16x9 TVs
Audio Commentary with Writer/Director John Carpenter, Star Jamie Lee Curtis, and Producer Debra Hill

Halloween 25th Anniversary: Bonus Materials (Disc Two)
Theatrical Trailer
TV Spots
Radio Spots
Talent Bios
Poster And Still Gallery
Halloween - A Cut Above The Rest: An all new 87 minute documentary featuring interviews with writer/director John Carpenter, Actors Jamie Lee Curtis, P.J. Soles, Nancy Loomis, Nick Castle, Charles Cyphers, Producer Debra Hill, Director of Photography Dean Cundey, Editor & Production Designer Tommy Lee Wallace, Executive Producers Irwin Yablans and Moustapha Akkad and more!
On Location - 25 Years Later: An all-new 10 minute featurette with Actor P.J. Soles and Producer Debra Hill revisiting the original Michael Myers house
DVD-ROM: Original Screenplay"

Here's the specs on the previous 2-disc limited edition:

DVD Features:
Theatrical trailer(s)
Complete television version including 12 minutes of additonal footage
Documentary "Halloween Unmasked 2000" featuring an interview with director John Carpenter
Behind-the-scenes still and poster gallery
Widescreen anamorphic format
Number of discs: 2

It sounds like the new version has everything and more except you don't get the full television edition in it's entirety and you don't get the "Halloween Unmasked 2000" documentary. I imagine the new documentary will be better than this one. I think I would definitely go with the new version myself, based on the bonus materials. I have the previous limited edition version and really enjoyed the documentary, the TV version, and the other bonus material - I'm still thinking about holding on to this one as well.

And here's the cover: http://www.davisdvd.com/images/covers/gallery_i.htm

And please allow me to be the first to say it blows.

What the hell is up with that stupid H25 that's bigger than anything else on the cover?

And 25 is on there twice? We get it.

The pumpkin/knife graphic is crowded into the title in an odd way, making the overall composition cluttered. There's too much stuff at the top and too much empty space at the bottom.

Tv Scenes on the 25th Anniversary

The set will just include the original version, with the extra scenes available as a supplement on disc 2.
From the specs below on the 25th version it does not say that the T.V scenes will be on the DVD, I am guessing that the TV spots are commercials and not the TV scenes.

Can somebody please confirm if the scenes will be on the new release?

Thanks in advance... BMatt

The T.V scenes are indeed going to be included on the 25th Anniversary edition from what i have read elsewhere on the net...just not via seamless branching but in the form of something like 'deleted scenes' etc.
