Most expensive current DVD? (Single movie, 1 or 2-discs)

Hey all, I'm looking for the most expensive MSRP DVD one can currently buy. I have a $13.99 for ANY dvd coupon to my local Hastings store and I'd like to find a list of very expensive title(s) I can consider adding to my collection. Anyone know any really expensive single movie DVD's off the top of their head?

The most exspenive single movie that doesn't come in a box set (like the Criterion "Brazil" and "Monterey Pop") that I know of, is Andrei Tarkovsky's "Stalker" which has a MSRP of $49.99. An amazing film. (Not sure if Hastings would have it, but it's worth a shot.)

I've had similar Hasting coupons and when I go there, all the expensive (Criterion) dvds seems to be mysteriously MIA. I was gonna pick up Do the Right Thing or The Last Temptation of Christ... good luck though.

I guess Les Vampires, with a MSRP of USD 69.95, will be among the most expensive single movie/single disc dvd's.

I don't think msrp should be an issue it should be what the title cost and what it would cost elsewhere. I think your best bet would haev to be Brazil Criterion if they will let you get that one. It is a three disc so I don't know if that meets the criteria. If not that likely another Criterion would be your best bet. How did you get this coupon? I have a couple of Hastings near me and would kill for a coupon like that.

Why is this in the Bargains section? It should be in Dvdtalk forum.

I agree with - Jeebowitz ... more importantly, pick up something that you'll actually WANT and have interest in. Criterion or Box Set (if the allow) would be your best bet.

ps... ditto -teddydogg

I think it's justified because he's looking for the most expensive DVD to get the biggest discount/bargain. There might be others in the same boat as him with the same coupon.

Don't forget about the second most expensive Criterion single movie selection... Spartacus. Don't know why it costs so much ($50). All the rest of their 2 disc sets are $40.

Nice call. Very good movie and a nice set, but woefully overpriced.

the WB special editions with the cardboard box are pretty expensive. It should be around $100 msrp.

Election *ing Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick.

Granted it's not the most expensive disc out there, but I don't think there's been any price reduction on this title since it came out a few years ago. $29.99 MSRP and you can't pick it up any cheaper than $20+tax/shipping. Anyone know if Paramount is going to reduce MSRP on this soon? I can't hold out much longer on it.

There are oodles and oodles of $29.99 MSRP titles still without price reduction. Many of them are Paramount. One I'm waiting for to come down in price is "The Conversation."

Not so fast!

If others can get a coupon like this, it WOULD be a great deal. Please share, the secrets of obtaining such a great coupon!

I don't know about the original poster, but I've gotten the same coupon twice before through the mail. It was a promotional thing good at my local store only. Several of my friends got the same coupon. However, like I said earlier, when I went, I couldn't find any of the expensive Criterion discs out anywhere.

I know this is a little off the topic, but Columbia House recently added Election back to their Enrollment selections, so you might want to grab it.

I ended up buying a couple of Criterions: Straw Dogs and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. If I had another coupon (by mail), I would pickup the Last Temptation of Christ for myself and Do the Right Thing for the poster above. My local Hastings had both of them tonight. Thanks for all the replies and I apologize if some of you feel this should have been in the DVDTalk forum.

If you picked up Straw Dogs and Fear and Loathing, you've done well.
