2 Confirmed future Disney Treasures titles....

From VB Video Business magazine: two titles that were to be a part of the discontinued Vault Disney line will find their way onto future release as part of the Walt Disney Teasures line: Old Yeller and Pollyanna. No date set yet for release.

I thought these were already released as 2-disc Vault Disney titles? Why would they release 'em as Disney Treasures....

I think you're reading the article wrong... It says:

"In the future, live action Disney features classics such as Old Yeller and Pollyanna that were earmarked for Vault Disney will be released under the company's Walt Disney Treasures brand or as part of its Movie Showcase promotion."

http://www.videobusiness.com/article.asp?articleID=5385

They're using those two titles as examples of previous releases, not examples of future releases. I agree that it's a confusing bit of reporting...

THAT may make sense, but overall, the article doesn't. They're discontinuing the Vault Disney NAME, but clearly from May 20's Love Bug and 20,000 Leagues releases, they are not discontinuing the line. Those two are identical in design to the 4 Vault Disney releases.

It'd truly be a shame if they do a lot of tinkering with it, as the few Vault Disney releases out there are among the most impressive catalogue output by any studio. And the "Movie Showcase" alternative is the lame, oft-overpriced barebones, fullscreen crap that Disney puts out for films like The Moon-Spinners, The Absent Minded Professor, and Blackbeard's Ghost. That's a really awful way to treat films from Walt's time.

No. Actually, they had a price drop not too long ago.

If the average consumer didn't buy live-action movies when they were marked as Vault Disney, they surely won't spend more money on them if they're marked as Walt Disney Treasures. I'm hoping they'll release them under the Movie Showcase line, although I don't know why Disney loves coming up with lines anyway.

I haven't thought about or seen this movie since I was a kid. I loved it then though.

Eventually all Disney titles will appear under the Gold Movie Treasures from the Platinum Showcase Vault Limited Tin Editions Collection.

I'm sure this will be released soon...especially since the remake is hitting theatres soon... they may bring the original on disc around the same time the remake hits disc...

Isn't the first Donald Duck collection confirmed for the end of this year?

Can't remember if its officially announced or not. A search will bring up a thread (or 5) about WDTs.

Is it just my lack of knowledge, or is Disney running out of titles to put out onto DVD?

Edited to add: Let me rephrase that, lack of titles that will bring in enough revenue.
