Good G-rated movies on DVD?

Our PTO (Parent-Teachers Org) has purchased a license to play almost any major studio picture at movie night. We use a computer's DVD player and a projector.

As it's for an elementary school the principal only wants to show G rated stuff.

First month we did Monsters Inc. but we're trying to think of something a little different this time around. We've thought about most of the Pixar/Disney stuff.

Any suggestions for good G-rated stuff, especially if it's not something that comes to mind immediately?

Thanks for your time.

Disney's Pinnochio
The Sound of Music
Fiddler on the Roof
The Wizard of Oz
Ben Hur
The Rookie

Pretty much that's only a portion of what I know. You might want to check some great classics where Hays Code is still on the business. You might want to note that some of the movie I mentioned have a long duration.

Kiki's Delivery Service
(maybe even show it in Japanese with the subtitles to get the kids to read more)

That's an excellent choice.

It's at the top of the list right now. I'll give free admission and popcorn to the person whose suggestion we use.

Of course, you'll need to get yourself to NH.

Thanks

I recently got it for my horse-obsessed two year old. I was truly shocked at how great a movie it is. I'd put this up there with some of the best movies of the 70s.

even though 2001 is rated G, it will put most of them asleep.
And what ever you do, do not play the original planet of the apes, since its got language and very brief nudity and somehow it is rated g.

My suggestions:
Black Stallion
Chicken Run
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Secret Garden
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

Sound of Music, Oz and Chitty are pretty long so they may need an extended night or 2 nights to finish.

Singin' in the Rain (Great visuals.. funny.. colorful and wholesome)
The Princess Bride (PG but generally all in great taste)
Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and The Wild Thornberries movies are great.
Might want to consider older Disney Live Action movies like The Apple Dumpling Gang, Condorman, Old Yeller and Swiss Family Robinson.

We had a gathering in the gym to watch a showing of Superman when I went to grade school.

From whom did the PTO buy this license?

www.movlic.com

BTW-most of the kids that show up are 1st and 2nd graders so I agree that shorter is better and live action may not be the first choice.

The Ten Commandments.

Okay, that might not be the best the best choice of movies for a variety of reasons, but how about The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under, Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 maybe.

Return to Oz
Labyrinth
The Dark Crystal
The Wallace & Gromit shorts

Some of these might be PG though. So you might need to clear them with the principal.

The first three are in fact PG.

Another good PG is Iron Giant. Teach those kids about Guns, Friends, and Sooooperman!
