Hoop Dreams possibly coming?

OK...I was looking at my imd.com vote history and noticed that hoope dreams had the dvd icon next to its name...it never has had that before. I clicked it and it took me to amazon....amazon said it has not yet been released but it seems to me that it is planning to come out. Is this true?

No. It seems that Amazon has set up all these "Not Yet Released" DVDs in their system so that people can "vote" for them or sign-up to get the email when it is announced.

Unfortunately, the IMDB links to that listing and makes it look like the title is available on DVD.

I've been noticing they are doing that a lot lately with many movies that aren't on DVD.

It has an R2 release, so if you can view PAL, you can import it.

I'd order this one if it were not cut. The laserdisc running time is 170 mins. while the U.K. tapes & DVDs are only 100 mins. long.

This is frustrating, but at the same time could be beneficial. Perhaps the distributors owning the rights to these various films are trying to gauge interest, and are asking Amazon to put up these "notify me when it's available" pages? If so, it could bode well for helping us get our most wanted unreleased titles out on DVD.

The director of this film, Steve James I believe, has a new film that was recently released in theaters called Stevie. Perhaps when this film makes its way to DVD, Hoop Dreams will do so as well.

This film is one of the finest ever made...
I've given up hope on seeing a release of Hoop Dreams.
