By the way, HBO made other changes to the episodes, most notably, in the opening credits on several "first season" episodes. Some of the UK episodes (as presented on the DVD) have a sort of "black and white" title sequence. On the HBO episodes, EVERY "first season" show has the usual full-colour opening titles, with episode title listed before the writing credits.
I seem to remember the pilot episode having a different end credits "crawl" than on the official version.
Plus, of course, the adcaps (end of part one, part two) are completely edited out in the HBO versions.
One thing curious to me, though, is how some of the early "Bean" episodes on the DVD have the 1970s vintage "Salute to Thames" frontcap at the beginning of the episodes. Thames had switched to an updated logo in 1989, which was before these episodes of Mr. Bean had aired, which would have been 1990-91. For proof, see this page: http://www.users.totalise.co.uk/~sim...hamesmain.html
Wonder who tacked those on (and why)?

It sounds like there's more of a sordid history of Monsieur Legume than Tigeraspect is telling us.
Dang. I guess I'll wait for the "Definitive Mr. Bean - With Additional Footage!" release a few years from now.
