Paramount's August slate... including PAPER MOON!

From DVDFile:
Rounding out today's news is a little sneak peek of Paramount Home Entertainment's August DVD lineup. Three new theatrical releases will hit stores - The Core, The Hunted and Better Luck Tomorrow - plus another diverse lineup of catalog titles. A trio of Peter Bogdanovich titles lead the pack - Daisy Miller, Paper Moon and Targets - plus a batch of MTV Video Music Awards Collection titles, Star Trek Deep Space Nine - The Complete Third Season, and five family faves: Jimmy Neutron: Sea of Trouble, Blue's Clues: Blue Goes to School, Dora the Explorer: Rhymes and Riddles, Rugrats: All Grown Up and a Nickelodeon Halloween DVD Sampler. Stay tuned for full specs...
The only one I'll be getting is Paper Moon. Glad it's finally coming out!

I am so excited these are finally announced...Targets is flat-out amazing, Daisy Miller is an under-appreciated gem, and of course, Paper Moon is a must-buy.

Does anyone know the exact dates in August?

I am a huge Bogdanovich fan and I am so happy his movies are starting to come out on DVD-- with What's Up Doc? and the Mask re-issue both coming in July, this is a great summer to be a Bogdanovich fan.

Now if only we'd get At Long Last Love, Nickelodeon, They All Laughed, and Noises Off!

Bogdanovich should be happy. Will he be contributing to any extras on those discs? Oh wait, paramount. Probably light on features.

Hopefully paramount will get around to releasing these 80's films sometime soon:

fire with fire
little darlings
modern girls (or whoever has the rights)
modern romance
that movie about that guy with that whip

& a bunch-a-munch more.

Targets is a must, and I'm happy to think that it might finally get some due recognition with a DVD release...

Paramount should acknowledge Mae West !

Does anyone out there know who now owns the Mae West titles which originally saved this ungrateful ( in that it sold it's interest in her films ! ) studio from bankruptcy? I've suggested that Criterion does at least one of her early classic movies I'm No Angel as a Special Edition with a documentary rather along the lines of the splendid documentary on Joan Crawford contained on the excellent Mildred Pierce DVD

Bogdanovich supposedly recorded commentary tracks for all three movies, so the discs should have at least those. I also remember reading that he was working with Laurent Bouzreau on documentaries, so there might be somthing like that, at least on Paper Moon.

modern romance
I'm pretty sure that Modern Romance is a Columbia/Tri-Star title. I hope it released soon also. (Speaking of Bogdanovich, in this film Albert Brooks mentions Bogdanovich's Nickelodeon in a scene.)

Targets

Bogdanovich does commentaries for everyone else's movie, so I can't imagine him not doing them for his own. What else does he have to do?

I wonder what is on the "mtv vma collection"?
Also, since the oar of Paper moon is 1:66, is there a slight chance that it will be non anamorphic?

This is an error. Deep Space Nine Season Four is due in August. Season Three comes out in June.

Yes! I have been waiting for both Targets and Paper Moon; especially Targets, it's fantastic. I still have the laserdisk of Paper Moon, but the upgrade will be a no-brainer. Maybe I'll go three for three and get Daisy Miller (have never seen it, so a blind buy).

Universal now owns the rights to Mae West's movies.

From Digital Bits:
Paramount has announced a street date of August 12th for Peter Bogdanovich's Paper Moon, Targets and Daisy Miller. Each of the discs will feature new audio commentary by the director.
