Panic Room SE INFO!!

Taken from Roger Avary's official site "Avary's Domain"

it says:The "Panic Room" SE DVD is going to be awesome! I was hanging with Fincher today, and watched some of the supplementary section materials on his ultra-über-Hitchcockian pre-visualization work that simply made my mouth go agape. When I expressed disbelief that he had essentially pre-vis'd the entire movie (mapping out to the inch where dolly track was to be laid), he smiled with that devilish grin of his and smirked out "I know." It's going to be one to own -- for sure.

I CAN"T WAIT ITS GOING TO BE FREAKING AWESOME

OMG, I'm gonna buy two copies! Wooo-peeee!
No wait. Three copies. I want one copy stored safe in my little secret hiding place, just in case my home gets invaded by dumb burglars.

Great news. I think I'll just buy one. But it's exciting.

Hmmmm. It better be a good one.
I'm still pretty ticked off after this thread:

Since I was the last poster in that thread I'd love to see if David Prior has more to say.

Damn. I just bought the Superbit release

But, I did like it quite a bit. If there are enough goodies on this SE, I'll consider it. Although, I think studios would be better off releasing optional supplementary discs for recent movies rather than entirely new releases of the movie. The Matrix Revisited is a good example

So, do we get the video transfer we should have gotten with the Superbit this time around?

Hi DavidH,

What's wrong with the Panic Room Superbit transfer? I've never seen it, but it's been well-reviewed, AFAIK. Edge enhancement? Moire lines? Bueller?

I'm glad I waited for the SE

It sounds like this might end up being one of the best releases of 2003 along with BHD(DE), TTT (EE) and The Alien Quadriology

Bring it on Mr Fincher!

Got the current edition during a $5 Columbia House sweep a few months back, but haven't opened it yet. Glad for that, now! Any release date mentioned for this?

The only thing SuperBit about the first release is the label on the box.
Check the bit rate. It barely is average for a new release.
I noticed plenty of mosquito noise when I watched it.

I don't mind double-dipping on this one. Great film

Jough,

Doug Schiller pretty much summed it up. The transfer is good, bit it's not great like other Superbits I own. There is some noise in the picture and it just doesn't have the "A" quality look. Panic Room was never designed like other Superbits for whatever reason. I think what happened was they were only going to release one version - a SE with extras - then decided at the last minute to throw a Superbit label on it - then bring out an eventual SE.

Hmm, if it's packed like the Seven and FC dvd's I might pick it up... I didn't think too much of the film, but it did have some good technical merits and I wouldn't mind a dvd that had a lot of extras dealing with that aspect.

Superbit Defenders won't admit this, but Panic Room SuperBit is a bare-bones disc with the Superbit label.

I don't get why someone would go into a thread of a movie they seem to hate just to crap all over it.

Maybe we should just ignore the thread-crappers. This post is more than 40% comments on the thead crap!

Man, a guy takes a tiny dump in one post and the entire thread gets all stanked-up.

I guess I am a "Superbit defender" (if it means what I think) and there is ample evidence that Panic Room is not a "true" Superbit.
