The Tick, Soap, Newsradio and Dilbert coming to DVD this year!

Just got this e-mail from TVShowsonDVD.com:

The polls are in and "Soap" is a winner! Here's the email that was sent out earlier today:

"Thanks to those of you participating in the TV poll. Based on the overall selections, we have now planned to put out a number of the titles chosen. Please look for The Tick, Soap, Newsradio, Dilbert and more to be released on DVD later this year. Thank you again for your selections, your opinions matter!"

You were sent this email because you have expressed having "Soap" released on DVD. If you no longer want to receive these emails you may change the setting in your User Options - "Change Account Information".
Can't wait for Soap!

Muah'dib 04-22-03 06:48 PM

I've got one question. I'm assuming that The Tick is the live action version. If it is I could care less. I want the animated Tick. :(

Sherbz 04-22-03 08:01 PM

calhoun07 04-22-03 09:49 PM

Four out of the five I voted for!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!

Do you think it helped that I made the poll my home page and voted EVERY DAY for Soap?

Does this mean the poll is closed? I sure hope there is still hope for Square Pegs and Parker Lewis!

Rammsteinfan 04-22-03 10:46 PM

scarredgod 04-23-03 12:42 AM

Oops, sorry to get your hopes up. :(

I didn't know there were two versions of The Tick. I've never seen either one.

BTW, I'm hoping The Critic and Square Pegs are part of the "and more". :)

Rob

Hypno Toad 04-23-03 01:10 AM

I was really hoping for the Critic as well. Brilliant bloody show. :)

JiM T 04-23-03 01:13 AM

Live action Tick? Gag me with a...

I was hoping it was animated Tick also - I didn't like that live action show very much, but I may consider buying it if only to show support for the character. Maybe if they sell enough of these, we'll actually get the good Tick series?

I like Soap, but I'm not sure i want it on DVD. I think I have every episode on VHS from Comedy Central. Unless the video much better than its broadcast quality counterpart and there's a commentary by Billy Crystal, Robert Guillame, Katherine Helmond and Robert Urich, then I'm probably not putting up the money.

Fyi,

It would be tough getting a commentary from Mr Urich..He passed away last year

JiM T

There were only a few episodes of the live action Tick made, so this should be a complete collecion in a single release. If it sells well, they have nothing else to follow with but the animated version.

I actually liked the live action version. It was corny, silly, and the guy who played the Tick himself was great.

PixyJunket 04-23-03 09:28 AM

ARGH!!

Four more TV shows being released (in season sets I'm assuming) while Married.. with Children is STILL being shafted.. :(

(sorry, this is my obiglatory post everytime a tv show is announced on dvd)

C Roberts 04-23-03 10:07 AM

I liked live-action The Tick. It was like Seinfeld with superheroes. :-p

I'd really like the animated Tick on DVD though.

angryyoungman 04-23-03 11:35 AM

Psyched about NewsRadio and Dilbert, disappointed about Parker Lewis Can't Lose and The Critic. Dang. We'll get em next time! :)

Walter Neff 04-23-03 12:02 PM

I'll definitely be buying the live-action "Tick." Though I'm sorry the series was so short-lived, it'll be nice to have all the episodes that were produced in a single set.

Chuck L 04-23-03 01:56 PM

I hate to sound bitter, but none of these titles are ones that I voted on...in fact, they are titles that I really could care less about it.

Something tells me that more than likely they were already planned and the others have some sort of 'issue' about them. There is nothing like letting the public think that they are helping in the decision making process...makes you feel like you have a say. But when you know of several other people that took the same pool and none of those titles were theirs either...makes you wonder...

bboisvert 04-23-03 02:10 PM

They didn't put THE CRITIC on the list of poll choices until the poll had already been up for a few weeks. I hope they took that into account when making a decision.

Honesty, that show was the only one on the list that I would actually buy... although I realize that some of the other shows definitely have fans, so I'm glad to see them released.

(and, by the way Chuck L... I hope you realize that most of the titles in your signature have already been announced. House of Wax and The Haunting on 8/5... Laura on 11/4.)

I'm thinking they'll probably release it like All in the Family, The Jeffersons, etc. Bare-bones, with a $29.95 SRP. Which is fine with me; I'd love extras, but a higher SRP may hurt sales, and they might decide not to release the other seasons, like Fox has apparently done with The Mary Tyler Moore Show. :(

I just hope we get season sets for all these shows, and for Married with Children!

SCHMEGGA 04-23-03 02:55 PM

The Tick for me!

slop101 04-23-03 04:01 PM

I wanted the animated Tick also - dammitt.

C'mon Fox - the animated Tick will surprise you with sales just like Family Guy did.

jough 04-23-03 07:59 PM

I really was hoping for "Action" and "Parker Lewis Can't Lose."

Oh well. I won't be buying any of the ones they mentioned. :/

Jimmy James 04-23-03 10:26 PM

Now that I know Newsradio is coming, I can start wishing and hoping for plenty of extras.

Great news. :D

Braddok 04-23-03 11:10 PM

I'll be getting the Tick, weather it's live action or animated.
