How long is each episode? I checked the box at Future Shop and it said the running time is 120 minutes. That seems really short for 11 episodes.

There is a Japanese DVD set, but it's expensive and there's no English subtitles... but if you're a fanatic...

That run time is wrong. There are 11 full episodes on the disc running some 300 or so minutes.

Sounds like Mach Go Go Go was re-edited and then dubbed by TransLux for Speed Racer... So there's really no way for the Japanese language track and the English track to fit the same footage... It would be really interesting to have MGG if it were available with subtitles... Too bad... :(

I agree adamblast, but I'm happy to have the Speed Racer I loved many years ago as a kid to share with my sons today.

Regarding the dubbing in ep 1 or 2 Speed says (I'm paraphrasing here) "Stop or I'lll stop you!" :) I can't imagine it was originally written as such.

Yup, I have an original copy of it...I still pop it in from time to time. Been a Speed Racer fan since I was a little kid...I remember watching it before going to Kindergarden every day. I also thought it was cool that my brother's name is Rex.

I wasn't aware there was a previous boxset? Is it still available? I'll hafta look into that.

Well, there was a boxed set that was released from speedracer.com that costed ALOT of money. It is now out of print. Its a nice set, but the packaging had alot to be desired. The quality is good, and the menus are alot nicer....also included some great extras, and interviews.

The new rubber cover LE is fresh out the warehouse(artisan I believe). I dont think this one will be going out of print. Although not as spiffy as the boxed set which contained all 52 episodes, this first disk is a nice one. The rubber packaging is part of a limited run supposedly. Pick it up if you are a Speed Racer Fan. I'll definitely be showing these to my future kids, along with Transformers!

Can anyone else confirm this? I thought the runtime seemed very short for 11 eps.

It's not 11 full episodes, it's just two hours of clips. ;)

Amazon has the running time at 300 min and another site I saw it at 275, I think these times are closer to the right time. The box is wrong at 120 min. Each episode is about 25-30 min long.

I got my speed racer for 11.34 total.
